When my husband and I married, he told me that the Doctor told him he would probably only live 5 years because of his heart, and I told him that we'd have five good years together then....he listened to this song all the time like many others have. He lived 12 years after we married, seven more than the doc. predicted....we lived our lives as full as we could, motorcycle riding, raising great danes, camping, and finally building a "trike" for him. This was an amazing song for my love, my husband and my best friend. He took his ride with God in 2016 since we needed more thunder. I miss him terribly. Thank you for this song.

Yes! Just listened to a Ted talk about “how to follow your heart” and he said if you ever plan your own funeral like he did at age 18 (he ended up surviving) that you change forever. Your heart suddenly knows exactly what matter and exactly how to govern each day you’re given. Suddenly all the things I’ve been stressed about don’t matter and all I can think about are my little kids. ❤️

I was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2013, during the toughest times of my battle I would often get on my Harley and go out for a late night ride to clear my head. I would always crank this song out as loud as i could. It was a healing process for me, after beating the disease I moved 1600 miles away from home to heal and start over. After a few months I went to the Houston rodeo and was blessed to stand up at the railing and watch Tim McGraw play THIS song!!! It was a profound moment for me . I stood there with tears streaming down my face totally embraced by this song !!! Tim, if you ever read this Thank You and God Bless

In 2016 just before Christmas, my wife of 28 yrs decided she didn't like dealing with our 4 youngest as teenagers and pre-teens. She walked out and I was sooooo pissed and lost. Now four plus years later, all but or youngest have grown into amazing adults. One served 4 yrs in USMC. One in college and the other works in day care and going to school. My youngest, a 16 yr old girl is a Jr in HS, a 4.0 student. I have custody of her and live every day as though this is my song. For the most part I have forgiven her, but still don't have contact with her. Live life, love The Lord and forgive. This sound is savior survival and loving life. That's what it for me. I love it.

March 22nd 2023 - watching Masked Singer. It's country night and someone in a macaw costume is singing this song. I paused the recording before it ended to find it on KZbin and played it all the way thru, smiling. I'm a Jazz, Gospel, and R&B singer who has enjoyed some country too over the years. But these last 2 years I have been discovering country artists who have been amazing for years and I'm just now finding out! This is a beautiful song that has encouraged me to CHOOSE LIFE. I survived a near fatal car accident that paralyzed me from the chest down temporarily and I lost the use of my left arm. Spinal cord surgery gave me back my arm and today I am fully ambulatory with some restrictions. Life truly is a gift and music is our universal language. I love this song and will play it some more to remind me that life is short and we should live each day as fully as we can.❤

❤ I miss my mom. She went to Heaven November 2022. I've been listening to this song since 2004. Thanks for preparing me for her passing. From 2005-2022 I enjoyed spending my time with my mommy and taking her places she had never been. The only place she he didn't go was Paula Deen's Restaurant and shop in Savannah, Georgia. Mom had surgery in 2019 and wasn't able to travel much after then. But I went to Paula Deen's Restaurant and Tybee Beach in Savannah, Georgia. I purchased many souvenirs and ordered three meals and two desserts. Two fried chicken meals and the meatloaf meal. Plus the Ooie Gooie cake. I took mom back plenty of food plus a post card, a wooden butter stick, Ooie Gooie cake mix, a Paula Deen apron, and a cook book by Paula Deen. Yummy God Bless you Mr. Tim for keeping the memories. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🖐🏻🇺🇸🙌

Patti, I just saw your comment on KZbin and unlike many others around you I know your grief is as overwhelming as it was a few months ago. people around us always say move on get over it, but they truly don't understand. I do. I understand how it feels, but today, take a moment for yourself to remember the good times you shared together and then take another moment to remind yourself that you will see each other again so try to make great memories that you can share with him when you next meet. Life goes on so live a life he will enjoy hearing you tell him about. and remember too, a stranger out there somewhere really does know and understand how you feel and there is nothing wrong with you feeling the way you do.

I had widow maker heart attack at 43, survived, kicked cardio rehab butt, and made life long changes. Two years later passing a kidney stone, found out I had stage one in situ Bladder Cancer(15mm tumor) on the dome of the bladder. A area that is always caught too late. I have been at war with my body for the last eight years…but I’m still here. My biggest battle has been finding out my wife of 16 years(three children) had two affairs while receiving cancer treatment during COVID. I stopped all treatments and made peace with this decision. I have no fight left. This song is a masterpiece in fighting. But sometimes you just got to give G_d the respect and steering wheel. And see what He can make of it. Keep the faith to all my cancer warriors!!

I have been diagnosed with breast cancer twice since 2019. I’m only 41. I go tomorrow to see if it’s spread to my bones (bone scan). Before each of these test I’m so afraid, but each time it actually gets a bit easier. Maybe I’m a bit more numb. Anyway, this song has been special since the diagnosis. I’ve tried to live my dreams. This song played today at work and I nearly lost it, just getting off the phone confirming tomorrows scan. I hope I still have a bit longer to live like I’m dying.

This song makes me think of our son, Brian who died suddenly doing what he loved to do. He was in such a good place when he died...with his relationships and all those he loved. He was on a mountain bike trail in Oregon when he had a heart attack. His last words to the emergency cardiac nurses who were riding with him that day were. "Tell my wife I love her." He had served for 14 years as a Navy SeaBee...and built and serviced the big Air Crane Helicopters used to fight forest fires...He had just returned from working in Australia and was scheduled to go to Greece in the Spring...Whenever I see a new forest fire break out I pray for those fighting them, knowing he'd be there if he could...keeping the Air Cranes flying.....He was 48 years young.

Today is the first time that I have listened to this song without him because every time I would think about it I would just start to cry because of how much I miss him. He was not only my best friend but he was also my fishing buddy I only went twice after I lost him and both times ended in tears. We would always share different stories while we were fishing and I just could not gather up the courage to go without him.

As I get older in life, turned 40 in April 2024, it's songs like this one and many similar that start having more depth and meaning to them. They make you take a step back, look around at the people and places in ur life.

My mama is 53 years old, and she has so many health conditions I can't possibly list them here. We've been through so many tough times together we're inseperable. I'm 17, almost 18, and these days I think I might lose her any day. She's finally got a doctor who's actually helping her. She hasn't always been the greatest mom, but she stepped up for me and my older sister in these recent years. It's something I'm greatful for every single day. I'm gonna graduate in June, making me the first kid to graduate out of her 4. We sing to this song together when it comes on the radio, and she cries. It's one of her favorites, and honestly, it's one of my favorites now. I hope she lives to see how impactful she's been on her little girl. I want her to see all the success I do because of her. Hold your loved ones close guys, stay safe

For one, I'd just like to say how shitty it is for people to pretend to be Tim McGraw to someone speaking about how he expects to lose his mother. For two, I'd like to ask if she is still with us? And has did she see you graduating?

@@king_spoon_toons935 That was a fast response. I'm very glad that shes still with us! Cherish every day you have left with her. I neglected to spend time with my grandmother, she had a stroke two and a half years ago. She died from cancer about a year later. I've never been the same since. It may seem like it'll hurt less when it's expected, but it hurt and shocked just the same. Cherish every second you spend with her. Memorize every detail in her face. Get a painting done of her by the most prestigous artist you can. Get a full photographer and do a photoshoot with her if she can handle it. It will be worth it in the long run. Don't make regrets and spend as much time as you can with her.

Well just spend as much time with her as possible being you when I lost my grandmother and 20 it's hurts alot and it might not seem like it at the time but it does get easier the pain will never go away and there are going to be days where you don't want to live anymore trust me but this world needs you and me it's hard I almost took my life twice but I stopped the second time and called 911 I almost walk into traffic on hwy 5 and 6 in water down I wanted a truck but I thank God every day and my grandmother who is my guardian angel for stopping me I know it was not me but it will get easier not at first but over time the pain get less and less but not all at once so just spend as much time as you can and remember she has lived a long life so think of it as she not dying on you but leaving for a bit you'll see her one day 🙂

Tim McGraw's song ''Live Like You Were Dying', tells a wonderful story of living with bad news. My husband survived his first round of cancer and we took a vacation to Mexico and were about to go horseback riding when he spotted a bull in a pen close to the horses. He said should I ride it, I smiled and he got on his horse and away we went to ride in ocean. Five years later when cancer showed up again and we knew his time was limited I told him he had rode the bull. No regrets

I'm a punk rock chick all the way, but I have a secret love for country, and this song makes me cry my eyes out every time I hear it. I wish there were more beautiful songs like this. And I can't say I've ever lived like I was dying, but I've been poor all my life, and got a CDL and traveled the USA/Canada solo for 9 years. And I made the most of every place I went, saw a hockey game at all the arenas, visited family I never thought I'd see again, and got into photography. I saw a lot of things most people never get a chance to see, and found great music like this on my XM radio to be my companion in lonely times.

It sounds to me like you’ve very much lived like you are dying. It’s not about the financial resources we have or don’t have, it’s the attitude we have about life- there are a whole lot of people out there with a whole lot of money, in fact, some of them are so poor that all they have is money… but you took advantage of the opportunities you had to explore new destinations, enjoy your job truck driving because you knew it opened up new places for you to see, and you took the time to do that rather rather than just focusing on your job. It’s important that we’re responsible employees but work isn’t our life. We work to be able to live life and share life with those we love. But our careers shouldn’t become our life, that’s a quick way to steal joy from our living. I’m glad you make an effort to embrace and enjoy life while you’re still able to truly live it!

A truth that changes you so deep down inside that nothing will ever be the same. I am thankful beyond words that advancements in medical treatments were able to grant me a longer life! BUT, I will never take for granted even one more breath! Love your family like they should be loved, adore your babies and thank your friends for each and every kindness they are to you.
