Flicka means "Little Girl" in Swedish, there was a book called "My Friend Flicka" about a girl and her horse. My stepmother read it to me, and now I've read it to my little girl too :) Coming from someone who was a total Daddy's Girl, I just lost my Dad last May and this song gets me right in the feels. He chose to raise my sister and I on his own, until he met my stepmom, and there was never a day that we came home that we didn't know where he was, until the day that we had to go home and he because he was gone. I'll miss him every day, but I know that he's watching out for us. He gave us deep roots and wings to follow our dreams... Just because he's moved on doesn't change the fact that he was first, last and always a Daddy. You should check out Ashley McBryde Girl Goin Nowhere, Bible and a .44 and the Jacket. It will have BYSE for sure. It's been getting me through the whole process with my Dad, especially Bible and a .44... Girl can tell a STORY.

Served in the Navy 9 years, 11 months and 25 days. I'd planned on being a lifer, but my wife couldn't adjust to being a sailor's wife and I couldn't not be in my sons life. It definitely caused issues and I miss being active duty, but I wouldn't change anything. Both of my boys are adults now (& Billy my youngest is older than you LOL) and today is our 29th wedding anniversary.

I was wish my SO when I was 5months pregnant with my son. She had suffered the loss of a child several times. She was adamant that she was just never meant to have children and came to terms with it. I asked her how she would feel once my son would be born. She just shrugged it off and remained indifferent. When I gave birth my husband(ex husband now) was there when I got cut open and our son was born but after he needed to stay home with our daughter(delayed and autistic) while I stayed in the hospital. My SO(she wasn't my SO at this time) stayed with me to help with the baby and everything so I wasn't alone. He needed his first bottle and I asked her if she could do it since I was fresh out of surgery and having a hard time moving. As soon as she picked him up and held him her entire world flipped upside down and inside out. I could literally see the change in her and the bond she had made with this delicate tiny defenseless creature in her arms. I ended up passing out for a while after because even though I had a c-section the doctor had to literally go in(she had to get a step stool so she could get a better angle and leverage) and pull the boy out of me because he was determined that he was not coming out and was putting up a fight. There was no fluid left and it was all baby. Almost 10lbs worth of baby that was just like "Nope I'mma stay right here where it's warm and safe screw you all"

It's a great movie. He actually plays the father who owns ranch who then comes to own a wild horse (flicka). His daughter Katie ends up bonding with the horse against the wishes of her father. It's happy, sad, cheerful, heartbreaking. Should watch for sure but be ready to cry, it'll Def pull at your girl dad heart.

Same with my little girl. When she came out she was screaming she was mad man lol. Was yelling at everyone as soon as i grabbed her she went silent and at that moment everyone in that room disappered except for her she just stared at me held my finger with a death grip. Flicka was a good movie, but that was the remake. I have never seen the original. But this song fit my daughter and my husband. She was a daddy's girl from day one and when her daddy left the picture and my husband of almost 20 years stepped in, she still goes to him with her problems over me.
