Yeah, the question isn't so much do you believe in it as do you accept it. It's just like evolution; it's not a question, but a fact.

@@thembill8246 why would you not accept modern medicine? It means that a lot of us were born when a lot of babies and infants didn't survive in the past and our mothers survived too. It allows for correct diagnoses and complicated surgery that would have been unthinkable in the past. It means people can get a heart, lung, kidney or liver transplant. They can survive meningitis, tuberculosis, a variety of viruses and a lot of cancers that it would have been impossible to imagine would be possible in the past.

@@annedunne4526 it's a matter of whether or not you accept the claims of modern medicine. It doesn't matter if you believe in it or not because it still exists. Saying whether or not you believe in something should only be reserved for things that are actually up for debate; there are not two sides to every issue, or at least there isn't always a second side that deserves any sort of credibility or platform. It's like saying you don't believe in evolution. That's cool, but it's a fact. You just don't accept it. (Obviously I'm not specifically talking about you, but the generic "you")

This is why I would have recommended the stand-up version. You were focused more on the animation, more than the poem. In the stand-up version, the poem is performed, brilliantly, by Tim. The words take centre stage and his performance enhances them. Also, the animation came later, it was, award winning, stand-up first. Give the live version a go. I'm sure you'll love it! ;) :)

I actually thought he created the animation and this was how the routine always was lol. It makes sense that this was a standup routine originally though, considering he's a standup comedian. I'm sure I'd definitely enjoy the standup version too! :D

Asking if your viewers believe in modern medicine is probably more likely to start a flame war than produce anything insightful.

I would assume my viewers would know how to share their opinions on things and others could respect their opinions. We all have different opinions and should be able to respect others. I know there are people, unfortunately, in this world that have a hard time respecting others, but I don't condone bullying of any kind, they don't exist in my world and won't exist in my comment section. I don't care what you believe, I won't censor your voice, but I will not have hateful people who bully others on my channel. That being said, I know my true viewers (my Travelers) will respect the opinions of others and be civil. Thanks for commenting :)

There's a distinction between knowledge and belief. I know that methods derived from peer reviewed science, such as medicine, do better in competition with approaches not based on such science. How do I know it? Couldn't all of the journals and papers I read be conspiratorially put together, along with the system that produces them, in order to deceive me? Perhaps, yes, but that seems massively less likely than not. On top of that, I've been on college road trips where the car broke down. Science got us back on the road. Peer reviewed science, because we discussed the best ideas we had for fixing the car, and tried our best guesses one by one, observing the results of each trial, and therefore honed in quickly onto the correct answer. I don't therefore turn around and say I "believe" in science. I don't like the word "belief". Rather, I know that the methods of science, by my own experience, and the massively reported and peer-reviewed experiences of others, lead to correctly predicted physical results in the real world, more so than any other method that anyone has yet deployed. That includes built in error and bias detection based on rigorous statistical analysis. I do make the choice to accept that evidence.
