My mom's best friend since kindergarten has Alzheimers. She and her husband has always been like an aunt and uncle to me and another set of grandparents to my kids. Most days she doesn't know where she is, but we all went to see them on Christmas Eve, and she was almost completely lucid while we were there. She could carry on a conversation and remembered doing things with my daughters when they were kids, and with me when I was a kid. We all said it was God's Christmas present to us. He next day when we called, she didn't even remember we had been there the day before. Alzheimers really sucks the life out of the person afflicted, and the people that love them, but I'm glad we had that time with her on Christmas Eve.

Such a sad song, breaks my heart. In a couple ways, i remeber when it came out, i remember my grandpas recently passed from brain cancer and had heard this song on the radio, i had the local radio station the story, and they made me a copy of the song, and it meant a lot to her. And now, years later, 3yrs ago, in 2021 i lost my 72yr old dad to Alzhiemers, and it was awful, and i miss him everyday.
