The penguin art design and what they're doing has changed often, I believe they had jokes on the back like the laffy taffy. 2022 Birmingham commonwealth games

It's nice to hear Touch of Britain is still going strong. We used to go there often when we lived in Citrus Heights. We moved to the UK in '97 and have been enjoying the many tasty treats on offer ever since! Your vids are a fun watch!

tim tam slam: 1/ TINY nibbles on the corners.. the idea is to make a hole the size of a straw.. 2/ who thought of it.. Me I think in 1978. 3/ diagonal to make it longer 4/ slam (not hold and talk) because if you don't you get a mess in your hand. 5/ small cup fillet to the brim with hot coffee.. Big cup means you can't reach. 6/ in summer use cold milk

Love penguins, a staple of school lunch boxes growing up. My Australian wife gets 'care packages' sent over with Tim Tams and they're nice, but just taste the same as penguins to me - she's convinced they're better...

I'd suggest a slurp of tea to cleanse your palate between tasting each biscuit, invaluable as a lubricant and cleanser when trying, as in your last video, so many different chocolate bars!

Tim tams are a copy of penguin. Penguins came out in in the 1930’s and Tim Tams in 1950’s. Kids love the corny jokes on the wrapper of a penguin which the copycat Tim tams don’t have. The penguin pick up is the British version of the Tim Tam slam.

And mine, 60 odd years ago. My Nan would buy me one, which always had to have a wrapper of a certain colour - green I think - even though they were the same biscuit, whatever the colour! 😃

I use to love penguins, i can't remember the last time i bought them i will have to buy some next time i go shopping lol, whenever i watch these videos it always makes me crave the snacks. i have seen them in other flavours too, the original, orange, mint and toffee i believe. not tried the Australian version but they look the same.

I think the Penguin is from the 1930's while timtams are from 1960's. The penguin was copied from somewhere else by Mcvities.

Aldi do a version of the Penguin called Seal and they come in orange and mint flavour as well as the normal one

Someone told me recently that a penguin is just a bourbon biscuit covered in milk chocolate. You've tried bourbon biscuits havent you? I love penguins - but will always view them differently now I know that fact!

Penguins do come in different flavours. The common ones being Orange and Mint. But there is other limited editions that pop up from time to time

Penguin biscuit wrapping colours and the ‘iconic” pengi picture on the front are registered Trademarks and cannot be copied or “mimicked”. Asda, the big retailer (once owned by Walmart), were taken to Court by McVities, (United Biscuits) the biscuit brand owner, as Asda brought out a similar biscuit called a Puffin and packaged it in the same bright red colours as a Penguin bar! cue …”Fiiiiiiiggghhhht…”!! McVities’argument was that the Puffin biscuit packaging, the picture on the front and the brand name was so similar, it would impact on McVitie’s Penguin sales as shop customers might “mistakenly pick up a Pufiin…” (and that was the Penguin biscuit TV advert theme song too! “Pick up a, pick up a, pick up a Penguin…” thinking it was their favourite Penguin one! McVities won the case, as it was a clear case of what is called “passing off”. You can get Puffin bars in Asda and I still think they look “similar”… we take our food and trademark branding very seriously here in the UK 🤫🫣 and Colin the Caterpillar cake was another big one! 😱😂😂

Seems like the court ruled that the copyright wasn’t violated, but it was too close to be legal anyway. :P
