Stadium organization and the Police authorities conjured up a complete disaster by failing to segregate the rival fans. It was a disgrace compounded by the indiscipline of the police who chose to launch themselves at the Argentina fans with minimal provocation. The Brazilian FA should be heavily fined and some form of punishment imposed upon future national team games in the country.

They had several generations of fantastic players and reached 3 consecutive World Cup finals (as in THE final not just the tournament) in 1994 / 1998 and 2002 winning 2 of them which is massively impressive. Sadly there were no more great players after 2006. Only Kaka but that wasn’t enough and I’m not a fan of Neymar as I think he doesn’t play efficiently most of the time. Too worried about tricks and stats. The current generation is average and I can see them not reaching the World Cup for the first time ever if something is not done. They need a proper manager ASAP and there were rumours about Ancelotti being appointed but I don’t know if that’s still happening. This guy who is the interim manager might have won the Libertadores with Fluminense but isn’t suited for the Seleção.

Yeah, saw this game live on Globo TV in Brasil and just wanted to confirm a couple of things. Rodrygo and Messi were having a real heated exchange before the kickoff, so i think that report has something to it. Also it seems to me the Argentinian fans by their appearance and demeanor, really were looking for trouble, and got it in spades from once again over enthusiastic Brazilian "security forces". These guys carry batons the size of baseball bats. With lots of women and children caught up in the melee, it really has to be said this whole night was just bonkers. I’ll tell you as a lifelong Argentina fan (since ‘86) and Messi fan (since ‘06). In fact calling myself a “fan” is weird, because I feel like it’s in my blood, and Messi is a hero forever for all he has done. However, I think there is a grain of truth here. Messi, yesterday, needed to be subbed. He was slowing the game down, and not finding ways forward (most balls ended up with him and then back passes). We needed both to open up the game and speed, and he couldn’t provide it (probabably because of his muscle that was bothering him.) in fact I didn’t think he would come out in the second half, and when he did, I thought something was not right. I’m not saying there was conflict or communication, but I definitely feel Scaloni May not feel free to make changes he should. I have no evidence, but it is just an observation.

Generalizing... I'm argentinian and I'm not rude or violent. I've never fought in the stadium. I disapprove of violence being committed and I think that everything should be settled using words not punches. I know I'm not the only Argentina fan that thinks this way. There are bad apples sometimes. Bad behaviour shold be stopped and if it doesn't stop after first or second warning send police and have bad fans evacuated from stadium and banned for months and if repeated offense, for years or life. Brazil is always a tough opponent and it is obvious that crowdds should have been separated. Scaloni reflected on that fact post match. The baton charge was not the most effective way to deal with the situation between groups of supporters... but it IS the proper tactic when one group is attacking the police. I don't have any experience managing crowds, but I would've thought that baton charging to corral a crowd and compress them into another crowd of people in an enclosed area would be the last thing you'd want to do. Wouldn't that just cause a repelling effect from the mob back into the charging force?

What? Carioca is a person born in the City of Rio, Paulista is a person born in the City of São Paulo, has nothing to do with ethnicity. The Japanese that were born and are living in São Paulo are Paulistas independently of their ethnicity.

The police never attacks people for no reason. For the police it’s easier to not have to do anything and watch the match if the spectators behaved themselves. People make trouble and then blame the police. Don’t cause trouble, sit down and watch the match, and no harm will come to you. Don’t blame the police for your own misbehavior. I’m sick and tired of people who don’t follow the rules, break the laws, and make trouble. They spoil our fun, too.
