Weah made it through the season in one piece. That was a breakthrough, given his injury history. He looks to have not lost a step. I really appreciate the way Lille and the US managed his minutes. Gregg learned from the Miles Robinson fiasco. Putting together an 1800 minute league season would be the next logical step.

He rarely starts for Lille, and he's not even a lock for the active gameday roster. He's 21, so he's nearly done developing as a player. If he can't lock up a starting role in even a mid-tier first divison league like Ligue 1, it's only a matter of time before he's in MLS or with a second divison European club.

Weah for me is the best winger we have aside from Pulisic. Reyna and Aaronson don't count as wingers for me even though they play wide on the national team. His technical ability, his flair and his creativity is easily some of the best in the current American player pool. More consistency next season will take him to the next level.

Completely agree. Hes still young and its his first full season back playing regularly. And during this time, He played a valuable role for a team that took first place from PSG. Like thats a huge accomplishment. Im excited to see what he can do moving forward with the class talent he has and the confidence now to build upon it. Hopefully he becomes an undisputed starter on the right wing opposite of Pulisic. This might force Reyna into his natural playmaking role in the middle. Which would serve USMNT well.

I don't understand why he wants to play Reyna on the wing. He's so good in possession and vision. That opens up the wing for Weah who is a better goal scorer. If Adams is injured, you can play Gio at the 10 with McKennie and Musah as a double pivot (since both aren't natural 6s).

Weah appears to be another athletic American attacker who doesn't score at top levels. I think he's got better technical skill than some who've come before him, but it isn't making much difference on the bottom line. USMNT needs attackers who put the ball in the goal.

He's on the Nations League roster. I wouldn't expect him to also be at the Gold Cup, since that would mean he'd be away from Lille for the last 3 weeks of July, especially with his injury history. Berhalter has said most players won't play in two tournaments.

@@cedano80 This is the first full year he's been healthy. His limited minutes was do to easing him back in after terrible hamstring injuries.

@@TheCrayonMan529 They're not easing this guy back, it's a lazy excuse. If Weah was good enough to be first choice he would have, when David went down Weah was starting and getting good minutes. If Weah gets time at Lille, stay, but if he's relegated to another season like this move on. It's the same reason I want Steffen to move on, you're an epl winner but had little to nothing to do with it.
