She’s a good mare, with a good mind. She just needs a little time to adjust to her schooling. I’d like to see her progression and the end results. Thank you Tim. ❤️

Horse flies are definitely annoying, but that one sure came in pretty handy. Big Mamma is a beauty. "bit of a handful" is no exaggeration. Like everyone else, I'm looking forward to seeing more of her. Thanks Tim! ❤️🌵☀️⛈️🌈☮️🐎

I like seeing these big horses, reminds me of warmbloods, and when they use their bulk to be negative. Loads of fun.... and you know how to do all of the fun stuff, get that mind engaged because the body has to follow the mind. Love that.

A very nice mare.....but harder to deal when there is so much strength. I think the way you have treated her is a definite plus....getting her to realize that you are the leader is wirking. You will win.....her brain will click and she will look to you for direction. Not easy for a trainer to tackle all breeds. Each breed has their own lil'puzzle of behavior to decipher! I hope the owner realizes all that is involved; each mare definitely requires deliberate, consistent, but gentle, firm and unwavering handling.

With Percherons they are very emotional type horses they know they can do whatever you want but Percherons MUST MUST MUST trust you so if you have one spend time spend time because once that bond happens that horse will do whatever u ask

I have a friend horse trainer, Mitch Bornstein, who wrote Last Chance Mustang, he showed me a front bite he got, man it looked awful, worst bruise I have ever seen. Nice to see her acceptance at the end of help and understanding you are the leader. Very cool.

My 2yr old Percheron has the same walk. She doesn’t like to trot too much in the round pen. I would ‘nt describe her as a dump truck. Lol. She’s definitely not a Porsche, maybe a tank. I hope to saddle her this week. She’s pretty good at turning & stopping. Worked on long lines today. Very hot here, your covered arena is making me drool. Thanx for sharing! ❤❤❤

Back on the farm we had a young mare that realized I’d kill deer & horseflies off her. I’d be in the house and could hear her coming at a run to the front porch. I’d go out and get the flies off her and she’d go back to grazing. We had 50-60 acres and a huge front yard so I just let her pick in the yard.

A suggestion: Keep her head "slightly" bent towards the inside of the circle at all times. If she turns her head, pull her head back inside. She won't be able to drag you easily if you've got the "leverage" of her head being slightly turned inside.
@timandersonhorsetraining
@timandersonhorsetraining Жыл бұрын
That is just going to keep her from getting leverage on my. That is just covering up the problem and creating a whole in her training.

I can sympathize about the horse flies. I was gardening last weekend and got eaten by mosquitoes and chiggers. I am a bruised mess because the antihistamine didnt help with itching. So on dogs and cats there are flea and tick meds you apply which really help. Do they have that for large animals? Or is it basically only fly spray? A friend of mine up in washington state almost lost her horse to a tick bite after an endurance ride.

Equispot is like flea meds but for horses and it helps pretty good for flies.

A pole for what?
@sassy6292
@sassy6292 Жыл бұрын
@@timandersonhorsetraining a pole situated in the centre of a round pen. I think it’s called a snubbing pole? It takes a big chunk of pressure off of the trainer and the horse can’t just run off. The head gear is different too. The line is tied around the neck just behind the ears and then the end of the line is passed through the chin part of the halter and out to the handler. It’s old school and shouldn’t be used by the uninitiated. The big danger in using it is getting trapped by the lunge line if you aren’t paying attention. Talk about getting wrapped up in your work! Lol.
@timandersonhorsetraining
@timandersonhorsetraining Жыл бұрын
@@sassy6292 I thought that's what you might have meant. I'd definitely not use it. It's a short cut. Also too much risk of a client horse getting hurt.
