In order for her to progress in her training, she has to let me use a spur on her. I think I have prepared her, but we will find out together as I do it.

I owned a tie-down once....I ended up using it to connect 2 tow ropes together to get out of a snowbank. Worked pretty well for that...

I'm a little bit surprised she's not rooting her nose more especially after having had a tie down used before. She reaches up underneath herself well with her hind end, you just have to get those shoulders under control. I think she'll come around nicely with your persistence! Great video Tim and thanks for reminding everyone there is a LOT of repetition involved!

Draw reins same thing. If you have one trying to knock your teeth out they help to save your face but you will still have to take them.off at some point and address the basics. I like this video.

Very interesting info about the tie down and I am curious to hear more about why a leverage bit is not the answer for a resistant horse if you do an in depth bit video. Thoroughly enjoying your channel! Thank you!

Is a 'tie down' what we could call, in 'British' English, a standing martingale? I think it probably is, as she looks, by many of her head movements, as if she's seeking one.

A tie down is a strap ot line that attaches to a halter or bridle curb strap / chain and to the front ring at the center of a front girth. Used to keep a horse's head lower and not throwing / tossing their head up.

@@tereseramsey1375 Ok thanks - quite different in action to a standing martingale then, which is attached to the nose band and runs down to the centre of the girth. It has no action on the bit at all.

How do you know which bit to use and at what point in training? I have a horse fighting to even take a bit. We have been working it slowly but don't want to use the wrong one once we accomplish her taking one.

Most viewers doe not even know what 'homophone' means and your superimposed question in the video is childish. Stop it. And video with moving subtitles in white letters are unreadable.

Why do you have such a denigratory opinion about the vocabulary and educational levels of those who view this channel? Or are you basing your assumption that everyone is at the level of the people who surround _you_? LOL!
