Pretty cool. I remember someone (Tim? Static?) said that “Are You That Somebody” was literally done from scratch to basically radio-ready in one night. Aaliyah had just come off the stage from a performance/concert when they went to the studio and wrote, recorded, mixed, and mastered it in one night. They had a deadline of 11am the next day lol

Nice to see someone else recognized who that engineer is. Back when I was doing record reviews, I remember getting an album by Aaliyah. Her record label was touting the producer, Timbaland as the next genius. I was like yeah, yeah. I listened to the album, and it blew me away. Then I read the credits and saw Jimmy Douglass name all over it. Right then, I agreed. Yeah, this kid is the next genius. Fortunately, in the early part of his hit making career, got to associate with Tim, (a little) and in person he was quite humble, had good people around him, shout out to Larry Lott, and Tim was a good guy At least, back then.
