Thanks for showing us. Question, how was the plywood on top of the double layer of foam insulation secured?
@offgridburbia4 жыл бұрын
I got 8" screws from the roofing supplier that sold me the insulation.

Was the decking 1 x material? Joists look like 2 x 6?
@offgridburbia3 жыл бұрын
The decking is 5/4 inch and the joists are 2x6s

No metal hangers for the joists?
@offgridburbia3 жыл бұрын
I toe nailed the joists in position and then came back and installed metal hangers.

Do you get deep frost ? If not, great. If you get 36” deep ground freezing I hope that you took that into consideration. Terrible vieo. Unable to see or check building methods.For instance did you use joist hangers to secure the joists ? Best to stagger deck flooring across corners.

Frost heaving is definitely something to take into consideration in cold climates. We're building in central Texas where the frost line is somewhere in around 6". This video series is more documentation of the whole build process rather than detailed how to videos. House improvements has a really good deck building series: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hXeblox7YsZ7f80

Wondering why you didn't go with 2 x 8 joists and ledger board .
@offgridburbia4 жыл бұрын
@@hap5215 I had limited ground clearance on the upper slope side and 2x6s very adequate according to the joist span table I used www.southernpine.com/app/uploads/SPtable4_060113.pdf The deck is 8' wide with a 6" cantilever so the inside to inside span measurement is about 7' 3". I was using #2 Southern Yellow Pine joists on 16" centers.
