I can’t get over how nice that machine is. I’ve never seen a TJ that nice and strait. Not sure why but they always seem beat to a pulp, maybe cause they’re on the cheaper end to purchase they get in the wrong hands. That machine is crisp!

I was a skider operator for a few years when I was young. A lot of time on the 225, and the 230, spent most of the time on the 550, they were New then, and THE hot ticket. Make no mistake however the 225 is the machine that put timberjack in front, very nimble and strong, it could really "get the wood out"! Bluffs and hills were normal. The company I worked for logged everything from export to chip timber. Depending on which crew you were assigned to, every one loved the 225, If you turn to tightly with a big skid any machine can turn on its side! Once at a 90 degree turn I dropped the skid to make the turn, before I started down the bluff, however the winch didn't release. I was turning and jacking the winch, trying to release it. The machine turned over as the winch released! AND free spooled.puking cable like a junk fishing reel the skider rolled slowly at first, but it gained a lot more vigor as it rolled over and over. It stopped rolling at the bottom with it's tires in the air! The battery box lid popped up, and covered me with acid, mostly my pants, my cutter showed up hysterical and insisted I was Dead! I realized I was soaked in acid, and moved swiftly to the stream! (My pants, and most of my shirt didn't make it)! Every one insisted I must be hurt,or in shock. I was fine. They pulled the skider out, and happily told me the cable was wrapped around the machine 7 times! If the machine had broken up, it would have been bad for me. But it didn't!!! The machine was soon back in service. And the damn winch fixed!!!

That’s a hell of a story! Reminds me of the story of when my old man had a red gum tree he was trying to pull away from landing in the river throw him and his 240E skidder through the air and land upside down in the river. Survived it, pulled the skidder out, changed the oil and she ran for another 15 years.

Don’t let rain get in there my friend. Detroit has only exhaust valves in the head so enough rain it can hydro lock. If it sits it will rust and lock. Be well

Hope you don't have issues with your winch, I just rebuilt one for a customer and let me tell ya what a headache. TimberJack doesn't like giving out any info on their equipment so you have to go to a dealer for all your needs. Keep the winch oil topped off and DON'T over grease it, that will make your clutchpack slip and free spool on ya.
