I am absolutely loving these videos. I used to ride behind my father when he drove a Timber Jack in the 1970s in New England. I was only 3! He used to take me to work. I would stand in that little spot behind the driver and watch him pull the levers to steer. Wow and he also hand files his saws TO THIS DAY.

Logged with cable skidders for 28 years, never had this happen. I started piece cutting 1960, in 1968 i bought a new C-4 Treefarmer cable skidder. I logged with two skidders most of the time. We quit logging in 1996, Company's ran all small logger out of business. [ Northern Minn ]

Yes they call it industrial forestry. This happened all over north America. It's a shame how they destroy our enviroment. There's nothing left growing when there done. If something does try to grow it's best to kill it with herbicides and plant somthing else.. It's hard to understand what is happening in this video. Very confusing. Why was the tj jumping around with the wheels in the air.
@crazymountain7775 жыл бұрын
Green- Zone Stop your lies tree hugger. The best thing for the forest is to log it. Did you know four times as many trees cut in America every year are planted. I didn’t think so.

When was this video footage shot? That's an old Timber Jack. I had a friend that was also in the logging business years ago. He was a lot older than me and had a bunch of these old Timber Jacks. It seems to me the ones he had were 4 speed manuel, with 4 cylinder 63 series, or maybe 76 series. I can't remember. But I do know even the John Deeres we had back then were a lot different than the ones we use today. How things have changed. I haven't had a cable skidder on the job for years now. Even in the mountains. Is he fouled up on stump? I've had to crawl under several skidders in my life to cut the stump down, because of guys getting them hung on them. Before moving South and mostly cutting plantation pine. I lived up North in the Appalachians, and I've seen about every way imaginable a piece of equipment can get fouled. From over the hill, to on its top. The tree looks like a popular or a white ash. I see what they are now, when I seen the butt, huge popular.

In the early 80's I worked for a logger in Klamath Falls who had a Timberjack 404 with an ESCO boom and 72-inch ESCO grapple. You could hear that Detroit 4-53 for ten miles away, I swear! It was a tough little bastard, and went like hell on flat ground. A good operator could move a lot of wood with it.

I used to run a clark back in the 70s, it was a screamer! It dropped a valve one day and was the super mad, it was a fresh rebuild, I told him check it out it snapped right by the keeper, nothing anyone could have done to prevent it! When the mechanic got there I told him pull the valve cover and see, he was shocked that I knew about the valves! That was one of the Detroits weak points! I was a diesel mechanic as well, but they didn't know it, I could make more money as a logger than a mechanic in those days!
