As someone who has done this exact rout, it is probably the most fun thing I’ve ever done.

Now you can snowboard all the way down to the highway, alpine trial was just opened . It’s a dream man

It's open?!! The last I heard they were just talking about it. That's awesome! How do you get back up to timberline? Is there a lift that gets you back up above Jeff Flood's loading point?

is this place ever packed? i see like no one in the video lol. planning a trip there in a couple weeks

For sure there is a lot of room, but it can get busy on weekends. Not sure how the covid restrictions might limit total numbers this year though. I hear you have to get tickets in advance online for this season (no day-of sales at the mtn.) If you can go mid-week you probably won't be standing in any lift lines... I find that a lot though at most of the hills in oregon. Heck, on my go-to mountain (Willamette Pass), I don't think I've been on a lift with anyone other than my sons in like 3 years, even on weekends. Bachelor can get a bad lift line right near the main lodge at open, but once everyone spreads out on the mountain to the other lifts it's all good.

Mid-Week is the way to go. Some days it seems like your the only person on a run.

Is Mt Hood a park like Mt Baker or more of a Whistler , Vail commercialized ski hill ?This reminds me of my Revelstoke in British Columbia
@oregonxyz2 жыл бұрын
Mt Hood is almost all national forest, except for a tiny village at Govt Camp, which has a few places to eat, drink, and rent gear. Several commercial ski lifts are spread out on Mt Hood - each has its own 'flavor'. It's not the greatest, but it does have its very good days. The worst part is the weather - since it is close to the coast and the Gorge and Hood sticks up alone... it can be very windy and sometimes it gets wet snow or even rain in winter. It all turns hard or even to ice except when fresh snow is falling. Plan somewhere else for a trip. Portland locals pick their days when they want to come up.

Ive only skid baker, I had no idea that there were trails like that are literally just an open field, its so wierd

It's a lot of fun and kind of surreal to be up that high above tree line. You can really go crazy with the big carving turns if that's your thing. Lots of room to let the horses run.

How steep is it up there?
@WheeliePete2 жыл бұрын
There are parts of the mountain that are pretty steep but the run shown in the video never gets beyond an intermediate level of steepness. That's one of the nice parts of Timberline is that you can go for a really long continuous cruising run.
