Time Attack Ford XR6 Turbo Ute with 300ZX rear end

While at Round 2 of the Nulon Nationals at Bathurst, we checked out Ian Porter's new XR6 Turbo Ute. Not your normal choice for circuit racing and time attack, the guys at Impossible Fabrications installed a Nissan 300ZX IRS rear end for improved traction and better handling!

When you did your twins vs single video you said you fitted a nitto head gasket to the rb26 I had a look and nitto only seem to make 88mm gaskets the standard rb26 bore is 86mm so did nitto make a special one for you or did you fit a gasket with too big a bore ?

I love a good IRS setup, so I have become curious with this one. What made you choose the Nissan 300ZX rear end? Is it power handling capablilities, ratio options, how the linkage set up or just a case of what was available at the time? I'm looking into piecing together a Ford 9inch IRS system, so i'm curious to know why you went your route.

300ZX is incredibly strong, as mentioned in interview can handle over 1000rwhp just like GT-R one can. Also, there is lots of aftermarket parts available for Nissan IRS rear ends make upgrades and spares very easy. Basically its proven product so set-up time is quick
