Somebody below mentioned FSOL and I have to agree there is a resemblance to their style but you are a force of your own making! I too was a fan of Future Sound of London and their industrial sound. I copied them on some of my early 2000's work. I still have their CDs Lifeforms and Dead Cities. Your music is amazing too and you really need to do more with it.

Oh, I'm afraid there could be not anything special to see how I'm playing :) This track is fully sequenced because I'm not a good player. Just pressing the knobs, spinning the data wheel and programming every note and step.. it's not very exciting show at all :) But I'm happy you liked the result!

Brilliant work mate. Love the groaning SFX and the beautifully layered pads. Excellent use of that Drum Break too as well as the various percussion.

Welcome to the KURZ world :)
@franklucas93134 жыл бұрын
if you ever get a zip drive for it again, make sure it is an scsi drive not a parallel zip drive for parallel ports. there is high current across some of the parallel pins and unfortunately the parallel plug 25 pin is exactly the same as the scsi plug. if you ever plug a parallel device into a k2000 by accident you will notice right away something is wrong, shut it off immediately and whatever you do, do not touch any of the keys as this incorrect drive is plugged in---as the current goes through to the voices then and burns out the protective resistors one at a time through the key engagements. read your device to make sure it's scsi and use a true scsi cable :) it's an expensive fix to replace the protective circuits damaged by a parallel device mistakenly connected to the scsi port. :)

Quite fascinating music; and also fascinating that it's all done with the Kurzweil; I personally never had a chance to try one. I guess they are not as common in Europe than in the USA, are they?
@_oscillator9 жыл бұрын
+Michael Brückner You right, most of the "Kurzes" you can find in the US. I guess that's because the Kurzweil originally is an American company, founded by Ray Kurzweil (he is a genius by the way...). My K2000 was assembled in Korea where the factory was based. In Europe more popular are Japanese synths such as Yamaha, Roland and Korg, also many musicians are sure that Kurzweil synths are to complicated and hard to learn the programming... that's wrong of course coz actually they are very logical :)
@BruecknerAmbient9 жыл бұрын
+oscillator Curiously, I remember it to be described as somehow not really suitable for experimental music; rather an instrument that lends itself to more conventional American rock / pop music (or something like that). Didn't Kurzweil have a reputation for piano modules? Maybe that's why, but I don't really remember, to be honest. Anyway, Your tracks show that it's obviously a great instrument for any kind of music...
@_oscillator9 жыл бұрын
Michael Brückner Kurzweil is famous with piano sounds of course (coz this was the first instrument with sampled waveforms), but the best part of it is VAST engine (or Variable Architecture Synthesis Technology) which allows you to create almost any imaginable sound. There also are DSP functions and extremely complex modulation matrix system. What's more - you can load any external waveform as sample and then use all VAST functions... amazing, that engine was created in 1991 !!! Yes, I also have full dem of K2000 on my chan, more than one hour long to show my favorite Kurz sounds. Also demo of Morpheus is there. So I would suggest the Kurzweil to any musician who likes experiments and endless tweeking :) Great synth!

+oscillator So. it's really worth exploring, I see. I hope I'll ever get a chance to do so! :-)
@gokosoul8 жыл бұрын
Must be ost for a movie. Love it!!! K2000 and K2000 v3, is there any differences between each other?
@_oscillator8 жыл бұрын
+Gokosoul Thanks for visiting, I'm glad you liked this :) Yes, there is main difference between the first revision of K2000 and version 3 - the first didn't have internal sequencer (which is very powerful). Version 3 also has much more advanced file management system (for Floppy and SCSI drives) and sampling option is added. Only the synthesis sound engine (VAST) is similar to both versions. So if you want to use the K2000 just as synth, you can use both versions, but you should choose V3 if you want use it as workstation and sampler, definitely! Cheers
@aslegu5 жыл бұрын
@@_oscillator How can you tell the difference between the different versions? They are all called K2000, no? Does the serial number tell anything?
@_oscillator5 жыл бұрын
@@aslegu The serial number does not tell you the OS version, because you can upgrade your synth with any OS. The OS version you can see for few seconds on the screen, when you turn on your K2000 synth.

Hey I’m about to buy a k2vxs, You seem to be an expert on these and I was wondering if you could comment on the reliability of these machines?? Should I save up for a 2600 or do you think it will reliable long term ?
@_oscillator4 жыл бұрын
K2xxx are very reliable machines, as far I know. I have been using my K2VX since 1998 and never had any problems with it. I don't know much about the technical problems of the K2600, because I never had one, but it is better as a synth due to double polyphony and a more advanced FX section.
@franklucas93134 жыл бұрын
I have two k2000s and a K2661. a k2661 should come pre-loaded with orchestral rom and contemporary rom, plus loaded with full 128MB of Ram which are upgrades to the k2000 and the max sample ram for k2000 is 64meg. I would get the 2661 instead if you are able. the effects are better as well as they changed those after the k2000. .All k2000 sample files can be read by the 2661 but you can put twice as much as the loaded 2661 comes with the 128meg sample ram. Plus there is extra program ram so you can have more patches saved with all their parameters. the k2000 has various upgrades that you may or may not get if you buy a used one, while the 2661 came stock with alot of these upgrades or better. if you want to compare specs, look up the sample ram, the P ram, the polyphony, and whether there is a daughter board included in the k2000 and if the extra rom (orchestral and contemporary rom) is installed on that daughter board in the k2000 (comes standard in 2661) also, most of these upgrades are stock in the 2661 but you might get lucky and find a 2661 with it's own upgrade which is a multi sampled Piano ROM called triple strike which is optional for the 2661, impossible to find that upgrade now, I wish I would have bought that upgrade in the past for my 2661. the k2000 is still an incredible machine. if you can imagine, you can create a custom patch with up to 32 samples placed on any key or across any range of keys and then blend in internal ROM sounds either on different keys or layered on top of your samples. you can trigger these with different velocities of after touch if you want. with just one k2000, to give you an idea of the flexibility of this amazing keyboard, for one of my band's songs I had my own tambourine multi sample I recorded and assigned beside more samples from an EMU drum module, beside more samples of a cello from a sample library, beside more samples of a string ensemble, and, not only did I have every sound required for that song all on this one patch I created, I had my DRUMMER in the band also access my keyboard through some extra drum pads I gave him and he was playing the sampled elec drum sounds from my k2000 while I was simultaneously playing through all the sampled sounds I had for myself in real time to perform that song. This was all on ONE PATCH which I named the song name. It was because the k2000 is that customizable that I was able to utilize it to the degree that myself and my drummer were playing different samples across the same patch at the same time. the keyboard executed that flawlessly and the song we performed sounded amazing.

@@franklucas9313 Yes, the K2661 is the best Kurzweil model till now. Even the K2700 is missing some features (graphical sample editing). Keep your K2661 and never sell it.
