a campcraft utility mat is a good sleeping pad for a ultralight bushcraft knapsack or rucksack kit..it has endless uses as a frame of sorts for the rucksack or knapsack.as a sleeping pad in the hammock. as a water proof sitting pad of sitting on cold wet ground a thousand and one uses

That’s a great piece of gear. Not that I would want that tied around my neck, but if it was cold & you underestimated your gear or weather. You could hang or tie this under your jacket in front or back to help deal with the cold.

yeah... not really feeling this one Blackie...i reckon if it was left in the rig i could maybe find some use for it. But the country i hunt and hike in? every bit of kit i carry on my back has to have a good reason for being there...Maybe if he sewed some pockets/sleeves in it for holding utencils and a loop for hanging it in camp, then a feller might have reason to include it inside a pannier....just a thought!...atb...woods

Do you know the sitmats the Russian Army uses? it's got a belt attached to it and is worn underneath or inseat of the buttpack, soldiers can just sit down on it without hassle and never have a wet or cold butt. ingenious invention.

yep we sell at walmart in the fall a hunting pad with a belt just for that uses as well

Blackie I was thinking of putting a loop of paracord thru it when it's folded in half then I can slip it over the strap on my haversack and carry it like that. Then I'll have a seat handy when I take a break.
