Nah, we feel you fam-it's a tough cycle. Whether you’re a developer or an artist there's a point where the pressure to cater to an audience or an algorithm starts to weigh heavy. We do everything in our power to create something, hoping it'll resonate, but there is always a thought creeps up again and again; "Will it perform well? Will people get it? How do I make it more better? What if someone doesn't likes it? what if-" It’s a tough man...creating something meaningful and trying not to lose yourself in metrics or external validation. And It’s even harder when something you have poured hours and hours of time into doesn’t land like you’d hoped; it stings we can't help it we are humans after all, comparison is inevitable kinda...But there is something very beautiful about it, creating because you love it, even if the world doesn’t always recognize it. I have been living on a motto (it was unconscious at first but then I realised what I was doing, and I was happy with it- not all will aggress with me but some circumstances made me as who I am.): "Give it your all, even if you don’t get anything back." It’s a tough mindset, the world we live in right now is-is driven by instant gratification, AHHH I remembered a very good quote just now from Desmond Doss(said in the movie: 'Hacksaw Ridge' its a biopic on him); “With the world so set on tearing itself apart, it doesn’t seem like such a bad thing to put a little back together.” Staying true to yourself and your passion, even when it’s tough, is what really keeps you moving forward. Hope this helps a bit and please take some rest, enjoy what you do Ik you are enjoying but just keep it easy don't worry too much about algorithm. We all know what kind of information you provide us with and it's amazing I really really appreciate what you do for the community and I am pretty sure we all think the same, So please take your time don't force yourself and just live create what you want :D hahaha I went on a little rant ;-sorry for that🙌

Couldn't agree more. There is nothing more intimidating than the "out of 10" system on KZbin studio. You often have to see yourself become completely different before you realize that you have drifted far from your original motives. Excited for more vids Josh!

Its a combination of neuroticism and perfectionism. Every content creator has to attempt pleasing the algorithm, but some times it's helpful having a streamer mindset - which emphasizes on being your best and showing up. Practically it means sometimes focus on the "Josh" part rather than "tried coding part" - chances are we will watch anything you upload, just like this video.

Fighting the algorithm is really tough. In particular, when the algorithm seems to be like hate and lies more than good and educational content. I am not that much into that "full stack", "hey I found a new library" thing, because I still believe in rfc3439 and xkcd2347. That being said, it's still nice to find someone who shows what is possible with that kind of stuff.

Dude, what's up with creators these days creating all these multi-hour videos..? I mean I don't do React/Next.js, I hate tailwind, and I had idea what Hono.js was, and I've probably "done web-development" for longer than you've been alive..., so why am I watching your 12 hour video? It's because your content is good, both technically and presentation-wise, and more than that.. I'm always motivated to go build something after watching. Imposter syndrome s**ks, and nothing I can say will change that, but remember that nobody is perfect and nobody expects you to be perfect. As long as you don't quit it will gradually disappear and before you know it you'll be an old fart saying things like "done web-development for longer than.." in a youtube comment ;-) Keep up the good work, I really appreciate your talent and your dedication -- and listen to your elders when we tell you that breaks are "a good thing" :-)

Thanks for the nice work/content! Content I feel is missing in JS/TS and/or more frontend focused world is non SaaS, serverless, commercial libraries and frameworks perspective and efforts (There are certainly some, but ). Like building applications which may take longer to develop, but are much easier to maintain, because one doesn't have a gazillion libraries to track and update, and backward compatibility issues. Also, stuff that isn't deployed in the cloud but on prem, doesn't need auto scaling (because most companies don't actually serve millions of users), and uses own, simple auth implementations instead of 'easy' third party commercial libraries (Because most companies and many people don't want to send customer data to a third party etc.). RoR, Laravel, Dotnet, Go etc communities are so much better in this regard. Maybe because they don't care about UX or smth.

That algorithm is a btch. It will turn you into a slave to it and just have you worried about pushing out a video every week or multiple videos and WEAR YOU DOWN I went through it. KZbin is not a big source of income for me so I just stopped for almost 2 years. I m getting into a flow again but I m not forcing my self to do weekly videos. I do them when I can and live with the results. Long term play. Maybe in 5 years I ll make some good money and do more videos but for now its a long term play for me

Josh, i hate to break this down to you the algorithm works by optimize what the user actually wants you can even replace anything that contain "algorithm" with "user" "the youtube will recommend videos that -algorithm- user wants" if you think the -algorithm- user didn't want to recommend your video its time to analyze why, have you found out? what did you found out? - as for me, subscriber, i think your video are quite talking about "overhyped" feature in Front end field a lot, they are kinda microoptimization these days and not really practical for getting started to development, - you have lots of clickbaits, which we all hate for educational channel mind to share what else did you find? lets discuss
