A pleasant time watching the rhythm of trains passing by, Dave. Like what's developing along side the rails: train stations, small town centres, railroad shelters, etc. It expands the interest of a viewer as the trains pass by. Thanks!

A very, VERY enjoyable and relaxing 24 minutes Dave! Jus watching 'em roll puts the mind at ease and makes the world go away for a while. When things get crazy the trains are still there with their "Let it be" message. Thanks for posting! PS: I'm not a big diesel fan (Unless they're on sale! 🤩) but I'm still blown away by how good that B&M RS-3 looks! What a find that was!

Good afternoon Dave. I always enjoy your train runs. Hmmm, maybe it's time to put a coat of paint on the rest of your layout. Might make a good subject for another video. I know it's hard to generate enough creative energy sometimes, and I often suffer from that myself. Still, it would make a fun video. While watching your train run, I just had to spark up my transformer and run my own test bed. I should come pretty close to some kind of finished layout by this Thanksgiving, just in time for the holidays. I've even taken a bit of inspiration from watching you. Thanks again for another great show, and have a good day. - Rex

Thanks so much Rex! Happy to be of inspiration. The layout: I have plans. Based on those plans I’m not ready to paint the current pink sections, but yeah, some color would be amazing!

Dave, you're really amassing a great collection of very nice engines and cars. I share a similar passion for collecting engines and rolling stock to the point that it interferes with getting things done on my layout. I'm fighting the urge to shop for more trains in an attempt to get back to work on my layout. Prices have gotten a little out of hand, recently making it hard to justify the expense of collecting certain models. Some sellers are selling the budget freindly used models with 20-30 year old electronics asking for more than six times the original selling price of certain models when it was new 20,-30 years ago. I've seen the same models listed for sale for months at the same asking price. Even what seems to be a good price is usually more than or the same original price when new. I wish our cars had that kind of resale value. I'm not sure if they're driven by greed or if they miscalculated their worth when they purchased them. Sure, I would love to add them to my collection, but unfortunately for them, I have more sense than money. Some sellers are listing cheap K-line S-2 switchers at prices equivalent to MTH proto models or those equipped with TMCC or Railsounds. Aparently, just because it's a model train, it must be worth hundreds of dollars. More power to them if they can get it. I wish them luck, but I'm out. I'm not paying top of the line prices for budget freindly models.

There ARE some deals out there if you're willing to hit the train shows and compromise a bit. For example prices on Post-War Lionels are dropping for the less-than-mint-condition ones. Even though they may be a bit rough on the exterior in many cases they're still ready to go. If you find one at a shop the dealer should stand behind it, if it's at a train show (where you can find some great deals on Post-Wars) there should be a test track available or if there's a club set up there ask if they'll run it for you. If they're good guys they won't say no. There's quite a few Williams trains still out there and since there's little collector interest in Williams products the prices tend to be reasonable as well. The thing is Williams and Lionel Post-Wars, MPC, and LTI era engines won't have the sophisticated electronics the current production models do but does that matter to you? If not then there's a whole world of opportunities waiting for you. I've got all the current production prototypically correct models I wanted now so from now on I'm going retro!

@@wayneantoniazzi2706good points. The post war stuff is reasonable cost at shows and offers just as much play time as the expensive electronic stuff without depleting your bank account. Stay away from boxed items as the cost is almost always more than ya wanna pay.😊
@wayneantoniazzi2706
@wayneantoniazzi2706 Ай бұрын
@@genemanno1533 Hey, sometimes you get lucky on the boxed stuff. At the York show last April I bought an LTI Era Lionel Reading Pacific, hardly run at all (it looked new) with the original box and instruction sheet AND I paid only $125! Can't beat that, not in my opinion anyway. And it runs like a deer!
@DRCRailroard
@DRCRailroard Ай бұрын
@wayneantoniazzi2706 Thanks, Wayne, I have a good collection of postwar, MPC, and LTI. I Always keep an eye out for those. You are right about the train shows but we only have one in October and one in February here locally, unlike you guys back east. I find myself getting hooked on collecting budget friendly specific models in different roads. I was collecting the different roads of the Alco RS -3. Now, I'm collecting the different roads that Marx never made of the K-line S-2 using the Marx 1998 molds. One never realizes just how many different roads were made in those models until you start collecting them. I have about a dozen different models and paid less than 60 bucks for each one. Sellers are asking $135 now. I've seen some asking $235.00. These are not models typically found at train shows. I know it's not something everyone would do, but I guess it's the thrill of the hunt for me. After all, I do hang them up on the wall after I bag one😊. I'm sure I have some sort of sickness but I think it pays for good therapy.

Great run and great video work, and layout progress. I hope you had good ventilation with all of that smoke. In the past I ran my MarX 1666 for about 5 minutes smoking a lot in a small room and had to get out of the room for a while.
