Such an impressive surprise gift, Dave. Of course, anything from 3rd Rail would be impressive, imo! They have been the hallmark O scale excellence in detail for many years. Such a generous gift! Your uncle's wooden carving unique in its own right. You are truly blessed with such a talented relative.

Thanks! Both items are amazing. The only problem with the passenger car is that it’s so much nicer than my others. Yes my uncle is a great guy, not just for his talented work. I’m a lucky guy

The passenger car is a nice gift. Now you have something else to collect as it needs the rest of the set to complete it, but what your uncle made for you is pricless and truly awesome. Uh-huh. I thought you might get hooked on painting and weathering once you tried it. I think it's more of an art form to make something look weathered with age than making it shiny and new. It will look more natural to have various degrees of weathering throughout the layout so that it doesn't appear that everything was built all at once on the same day.

I definitely need more! I do love the wooden train. It’s such a cool gift. I have to get some buildings done so I can paint/ weather them too!

That is one beautiful car. The brass stuff is always real nice. I have a friend that has a number of brass engines and cars for 3-rail track and they are just gorgeous. The one thing that I've always disliked are those 'thumbtack' style of uncouplers. I have few K-Line switches on my layout and some of those upcouplers make contact with them and the train comes apart. For some odd reason, they also tend to operate the old, electromagnetic couplers on the early, post-war equipment and 2400 series passenger cars. They are soon to be replaced by standard Lionel and Ross switches. As always, an excellent video.

It is a very nice car, makes me want to look for more. Yeah those thumbtacks are an eyesore and can get in the way. I’ve thought of removing them from my cars but I always end up deciding against it

Oh yeah. You know I tried to stay with conventional plastic…. Oh well. I guess I’ll just have to enjoy myself regardless

Dave that Sunset Model / 3d Rail P54 coach is a knockout! Sunset's been a class act as far as O Gauge models for years and the way that coach rolls behind that PRSL engine tells me it likes its new home! Congratulations! Interior and lighting can follow in good time. And my compliments to your uncle for that great piece of woodworking, it's a real work of art! Thanks for posting!

Dave, what you received as gifts is truly amazing. The brass passenger car is gorgeous, and I look forward to you upgrading it. It would make great video content. The wooden train is an incredible gift. The thoughtfulness, along with the time and effort put into it to design and build it is remarkable. That’s a display train for sure. When you do your opening monologue, make sure that beautiful locomotive is in the frame all of the time. You’re very well loved, that’s for sure. Tom

Great idea, I’ll have to make sure the wood train is centered on the shelf so I can fit it in.

Gotta love trains that are not plastic. There's something special about heavy brass or diecast. Will be interested to see what you do for an interior, if you find some STL files, let me know. I recently acquired a whole collection of O scale 2 rail. All vintage die cast, brass or wood and very heavy. Those require very wide radius and not sure where I'd set up anything since I already have HO and S! Maybe on the van, I"ve seen those types around alot, could look good with road dirt and rust streakes all over, seems too new to make an abandoned van.

The brass car is substantially and rolls beautifully. I’ve some stls for HO passenger car interiors but haven’t tried printing any yet in O. That sounds like a great collection. For the van I painted the interior and added people and headlights. That might be it for now

Pennsylvania passenger cars were full of people in those days. Buy a lot of people. A larger model of a smaller car can fit. Ex- a 1:36 small car is the same dimension as a 1:48 or 1:43 larger car. Life Like seated passengers fit well in a1:36 convertible.
@dagryffynhobby4 ай бұрын
Oh this car is going to be full! I figure the different size cars will just live in different scenes, and I’ve had good luck so far with the random people I do have. But I could pay more attention to it
@frankmarkovcijr54594 ай бұрын
@@dagryffynhobby Life Like seated passengers fit in various 1:36 smaller convertibles. Beep people fit in Road Signature cars w/o amputation. Beep people are S scale/ 027 size. The passengers to fill up my subway 🚇 trains cost me more than the subway 🚇 train set. Lionel should have made 🚇 subway trains sets , they would have been great sellers.
