One of the most clever things about this game is the amount of stuff you find that seems useless or just like flavour, like the clock in the antique shop or a bunch of stuff in the hospital like the vhs and certain empty rooms, that later become super relevant when you revisit those areas in the "Nowhere" section.

One of the best things in the game I like most is, when the area has completely changed into the dark one. That is so scary because you can hear the monsters but you don't see them. Also all the things that happen in the sewers.

Oh my gosh I also completely missed the rifle on my first playthrough 😱😂 After fighting that giant bug I was getting the heck out of there lol didn’t take time to look around. I think you’re right this game has some amazing design choices for PS1 and especially with the sound design too. Some of the ambient noise particularly in the hospital is so eerie. I just wanted to take a moment to say how much I appreciate how you balance your content between the new and the old. It can be overwhelming to see twenty playthroughs of the latest game all pop up on my subscription feed when I only want to see a certain few play the game depending on what it is, so it's nice to have a break from the deluge haha. And Silent Hill is one of my all time fave horror series (the number one spot being held by Fatal Frame, feelin' really deprived and sad over here with my fav horror franchises in limbo :'D) so I'm always happy to return to it. 💜 And happy for those who are experiencing the game for the first time! What a treat.

I really want a horror game creator to apply real world logic where you can break down the door with the fireman's axe, but the consequence is you can now no longer securely close that door, so monsters/environmental factors can get in. That'd be an interesting mechanic to have, because you'd have to think of the consequences for your actions. Patience and perserverence can pay off, but it takes longer and has it's own risks, but the quick way could be best in certain circumstances too. It'd be neat to see.

After finishing pt2, I'm so glad we're out of that hospital, cause those bugs really got to me. You might think those nurses are the worst, but giant bugs and creepy crawlies are what get me! Seems that the "Dark World" is just an allucination of Harry. But is also heavily implied that is the reality itself that is changing by the seal that appear in the town. Also, the door that doesn´t open in the "Other Church" maybe is coneccted to the Hospital

I'm so curious! I remember Gab saying in her playthrough of Silent Hill 2 that [CAUTION SPOILER for SH2] that everyone that came to Silent Hill had their "personal hell" or that the town would adapt for each person. I wonder why the town looks so "rusty" for Harry.

[SPOILER ALERT] Someone said in an analysis video that Silent Hill 1 is about Alessa's personal hell, and Harry just got caught in it because Cheryl is the other half of Alessa, and so he bears witness to her unleashing hell on the town because no one paid attention to her as she got abused by her own mother and was used to birth the town's god. If you've finished the first game, you might notice that most of the monsters look like the bugs displayed on pictures in Alessa's room, and the first boss (the lizard) was from a fairy tale she must have read on school. I think the rusty town is Alessa's personal hell but Harry can see it because of Cheryl's connection to Alessa, if that makes sense? Because everywhere he goes, 'symbols' scattered everywhere ultimately lead back to her.

I'm not sure everybody else sees the same thing, but I'd like to think so since it'd make more sense, with the way the others have treated her, except for Cybil - I think her version of the town may be completely different. Aside from the fact that she's innocent and always struggled believing everything Harry was telling her, she came to Silent Hill for different reasons. As for Lisa... *sigh* she probably shares the same version with Harry since she's already long gone :(( Hope I made sense 😆

Yeah.. I guess so too for Lisa. And I read something in the final video's comments, that Lisa actually helped the cult with Alessa by watching over her or something like that. Lisa blamed herself for being part of it and maybe Alessa blames her too and that's why she is in Alessa's version.

i'm currently playing SH1 for the first time...The game is amazing up until the antique shop, after that it's becoming quite frustrating, to always run with all the enemy spamming and the clunky control doesn't help. The first part is amazing thought, I will finish it and want to play all of the silent hill series after before the new remake launch. Been enjoying your playthrough when I am stuck or just want to see how you did approach parts that I did during my playthrough. 2 years later but great content still! Thank you for this, I'm a new subscriber, deep into Silent Hill content these days!

I really like SH1 because all the characters feel very real and fleshed out. Cybil and Lisa are perfect examples of this. I think from 2 onwards, they leaned into the "weird and wacky" a little too much with the supporting characters.

New items show up when you return to some areas or town areas. Monsters can't see in the dark so when you enter a new area, make sure that your lite is off. Also they can't hear you when you walk up on them in the dark. Beware some monster see better and other hear better.

It seems like every games in the 1990s and 2000s had a mandatory sewer or waterworks level that was either just okay, or downright tedious to get through lol Not sure why that was such a trend, maybe just for level variety? Also, Gab, since you are curious to check out the Fatal Frame series again, would you want to check out the Siren series? (Siren, Forbidden Siren 2; and the Siren: Blood Curse is basically a remake of the first game) It seems like it would be the style of old games you might enjoy checking out one day!
