Thanks for watching, my name's Phil and I'm a former gambling addict. I make videos to share my experiences of gambling and talk about my recovery, abstinence and the challenges of quitting gambling. I also tend to ramble on about anything else that comes to mind and take great pleasure in dispelling some of the most common myths around gambling.

Firstly good luck hope interview went well and I am certain what ever issues you have will be over come with the same strength that you have shown and still show when dealing with gambling. But I would like to point out, the very fact that you did not relapse is an example to all of us. I have always used personal problems as an excuse to go back to gambling. You have shown us that it can be done and whatever goes on in your life it is not a justification for gambling again. Been clean for a while but have had jitters last couple of day but held them at bay. This video as always has helped. Thank you

A Strange Journey is life. UPS, downs, sideways movements... My only bit of advice... Never regret anything. It always felt right at the time. Accept everything that has happened to you, is happening to you, will happen to you and you will be able to deal with anything. Remember, Thinking is the biggest addiction in the world. Keep practicing to 'live in the moment' and think as little as possible. Wish you all the best Phil and everyone watching.

I also got laid off last year and I haven’t had a fixed address to even claim benefits. And when I do get hold of any money I go back to my old ways and gamble it to try turn it into a chunk. I’m on gamstop etc but there’s raffle sites etc with no regulation. I lost £2000 which is small towards what I’ve lost in the past but it’s every penny I had in the world. I just had to borrow £5 from a friend. I do believe gambling caused all this to happen and I just hope I’ve learnt my lesson this time.

Just wanna tell you Phil I commented on a few videos back in the day when I was screwed. But this year I've only gambled twice, I'm now a dad and I'm doing so much better in life, I hope things work out for you my friend

Hi Phil, yeah it's a very tough time. A friend just went through this and I always thought he was rock solid financially and career wise but I could tell he was worried like I had never seen before. Lacking sleep just makes it all worse. Fair play for doing the 3am job, whatever pays the bills for now. My brother is an IT specialist but welds trailers and flips burgers at the horse racing if ever needing to over the years. Takes a proper bloke to just get it done, keep pushing on.

My sympathies Phil, I got made redundant with immediate effect at the end of July after the company I worked for collapsed. Didn’t even get my July pay which was due. Had to claim notice pay, monies owed and redundancy pay through a government scheme and only got a fraction of what I was due. Total shock to the system as I have 3 kids and am the main breadwinner. Luckily I managed to get fixed up with another job fairly quickly. Really hope things work out for you mate 🙏🏻

Been watching your videos for a year, they have helped me a lot, I have been taking in the advice but have not been acting upon it, so far I made 100,000$ this year with 3 more months to go and only have 9 cents in my bank account. I’ve started this weekend acting upon what your saying and have downloaded the gamban and have self excluded, which was really hard for me to do because I lost a lot of money this paycheck (1700$) and was expecting a big monthly bonus but I banned myself before the bonus because if I get paid before hand I’m just going to lose more and more and more. Hopefully your situation gets better, you’ve already been through a lot with gambling and hopefully mine does aswell good luck friend!

A lot of people have found your advice about gambling recovery helpful and I feel would welcome more even if you feel you're repeating yourself. I would enjoy hearing you in conversation with other people who've been gamblers and had to fight that vice. Why not try doing some interviews?

Hi Phil, sorry to hear about losing your job. I am glad you did not relapse which I have done in the past when bad news comes along rather than dealing with it. Life is full of ups and downs stay strong and maybe start doing a few does not matter about going over old ground.

Hi Phil.. How do I subscribe to your other channel? Keep the faith that there is something greater than me in charge is what I tell myself. I find it challenging not to let fear take me over!! I'm still in and out of the gambling addiction as I live in Las Vegas. I keep going to gamblers anonymous and there is a lot of recovery. I am critiquing what works for me so I don't keep going back to it. I am going to commit to intensive outpatient therapy and I'm building a support system. Gambling addiction is pure hell. I just know things will work out for you because you've been in recovery and you've got a straight head so I'm sending you love and prayers.

Phil, I’m really sorry to hear about everything that’s been going on in your life, all those unpleasant situations. But I want you to know that I believe in you. I’m a fan of you! oh yes! and I’m confident that you still have amazing things ahead of you in any asp[ect. You have over 400 videos on your channel. You have already built something incredible where people can find help and valuable information about gambling addiction issues. As someone who has personally battled gambling addiction, I have looked for support in many places really many. Your channel is truly a treasure man. and iIt could grow further, and I’m planning to send you a DM about this. I’m sitting here at my PC, it is about 1:00 AM. @@xaar81 sorry I didn’t specify… I know the UK economy is not great now, but even here in the US, we are being told the economy is all great (it is an election year after all), but many people are getting laid off… good solid jobs being replaced by lower pay “gig economy” crap jobs..

@@AlexA-mh5xs I concur. We have layoffs at the hospital I work at. Not mass layoffs, but they are trying to eliminate a lot of positions we actually need.
