Time for Tea with me! A Healthcare Science Week Case Study

Hi everyone! A huge part of why I started these videos is because healthcare scientists are involved in 80% of diagnoses but often people don't know about us! So, I thought I'd do something a little bit different to celebrate healthcare science week and show what might happen when a sample comes through our doors🌟 This case study is an example referral of what we might see in the Genetics department. Part of the reason I love my job is because we're given little clues and use them to work out what's going on, it feels a little like being a detective!
This is more of a standard referral we may see from a patient who is pregnant and has had some abnormalities show up on their scan. Hopefully, it's something that people are fairly familiar with, but if people enjoy this video I'll do some ones with different/more obscure cases!
(TW - I discuss different options that are offered following prenatal diagnoses and this includes termination.)

Great video, thank you! Super informative about how samples like this are handled from the perspective of a clinical scientist. Also really important to remember about the patient at the other end and their emotional/mental well-being. Hope you're staying safe and well too
