Surprisingly, no. The sun still gets close enough to the horizon that some light can be observed, resembling twilight. But I can see what you mean, and it'd be pretty hard to live with.

I’ve been to Helsinki and Tampere early January. When my cousin woke up at 8:45 am I look outside and it looked like someone dimmed the light by a lot. It took until around 10 for it to look less dimmed lol

Just sleep. Use curtains. If I have to sleep somewhere without proper curtains / blinds, I can but it might take a while and the eyes might feels bit unrested at the morning. If I keep going, I adapt for the next night or the one after. Sleep quality becomes good again. Northern people are often expected to be very cold resistant people, but I think primary to that, nordic people have adapted to constantly changing environment; steep & short cycles of extremities. The maximum temperature difference a northener experiences during the year can reach 60°, even 70°celsius. Bikini time to cadaver preservation. Same sharpness with the light. If it takes you 3 weeks to adapt to a condition and you're groggy and unproductive during the period, you would not survive, because that part of the season is already past when you're adapted. ps. first snow came in last night. Happy hallows.

@@poetsrear I went to Finland in the summer this year. Nowhere has curtains good enough for the fact it doesn't get properly dark 😅 I was so glad I had an eye mask. Where I live normally, we have shutters so it's pitch black at night. I just assume Finn's body's adjusted to sleeping in light.
