A friend and I are just getting started with time lapse photography. Your video is very helpful. And as I often say after dinner, "More, please."

Hi, is there a way to do timelapse (I have the same camera) and see what’s being shot in live view on the back of the camera? My problem: when I turn on live view, timelapse function is grey out. Then I set my timelapse function, the display on the back is constantly black! When you shoot, for example, day to night series, you would need to see your exposure and adjust it accordingly. I’m struggling😰 can you help?

I have been using these technics for a few days but the one thing I have a question about is the camera setting. What did you set it at?

I shot at f16 and 0.4s, and I think about a 3 or 4 second interval. Let me know if there's anything more specific you'd like to know :)

What's the difference of just letting the camera do the video instead of doing it manually ?
@ScottDumas7 жыл бұрын
Vaughn Felix doing it manually will allow you to process the raw files first and have more freedom to get the most out of the files. The in camera movie will bake the processing (including white balance, exposure and color profile) in and will also crop them to a video aspect ratio so you lose the ability to pan the video or zoom in/out for a kind of slider effect.

Oh I see... so for real awesome video making, you would use your method, but for the 99% of you tubers and upcoming videographer/vloggers, in camera is ok you think?

Vaughn Felix it's definitely easier/faster but if you have the time I'd definitely recommend anyone at least try the manual way once or twice. The same way I'd recommend even beginners shoot stills in RAW instead of jpeg. It all depends on what results you want, but manually can be a lot of fun and gets great results.

As far as I know, I think the limit would only be your battery life and/or memory card limit! :)
