Most of the stuff on my channel has to do with my original music. I'm a drummer, who studied a bit of music theory in order to write or collaborate with fellow musicians. I've been playing the piano for a couple of years, but at the end of the day I'm built more along the lines of playing drums. My hands are more of the "me take sticks and hit stuff" kind of guys hands. Though I do love to play piano a lot!! Especially because, with todays technology there are a plethra of instruments i can now play through the piano. Though I'm finding that each has it's own style of playing technique one must learn in order to make it sound as if it really is that instrument. I'm learning....
I used to be in a series of "RUSH" tribute bands, hence the "LaVilla Strangiato" cover on my channel that I did with a couple great musician friends back in 2010. I'm quite proud of it and the musicians who played and recorded it with me. It's one of the songs that was truly a pivital point in my learning my drum tecnique. For this I thank "Neil Peart" R.I.P This also spurred me into playing other progressive styles of music. Probably my next most stuydied influence is "Rod Morgenstien" from the "DREGS" or "Dixie DREGS". As of now, I mostly only write original material, by myself.
Not that I wouldn't love to have collaborators on my projects, it just seems no one is that willing to actually work on doing something. Which is odd because, that was my purpose for learning the amount of theory I studied in the first place. And turns out, the majority of guitar player I know seem to thing a bit of theory will wreck their playing, which is nonsense. How can learning chords and scales that one could use hurt your playing? I mean, doesn't it make sense that the better vocabulary one has, the better one can express themselves? It's just a shame. But, I'm not trying to convince anyone... Learn, don't learn. But when someone tells you a chord to play, and it takes you tripping over wrong notes to find it, don't blame me if I'm sitting back there behind the drums cracking up holding back an "I could have told you so" lol
Just saying ;-P
