These tips and tricks can help speed up your workflow and help you to become a more proficient editor. Dylan, another great video! Thanks so much. I'm really new to all video editing and your tutorials are so clear and concise, I really appreciate it! I was wondering if you or some of your followers might be able to give me some advice or suggest a video to watch with the following issue I cannot quite figure out. Now that I've started to pay more attention to editing in movies, there's a technique I'd like to try out where the audio of your next clip starts before the current clip ends. An example might be, you have a clip of a person packing a suitcase getting ready to go on vacation and a few seconds before that clip ends, you want to cut in the audio of the next clip, which has audio of an airplane taking off at an airport. Kind of a bit of foreshadowing of what's coming. Hearing the plane's engines before the video of the airport starts. I know there has to be a super simple way to make this happen but I'm getting terrible results. Any suggestions/links would be much appreciated!

Thanks so much, Jay! You're exactly right. It is super simple and so crucial to know as an editor! I'll make that video in the coming weeks :) thanks for the suggestion! Until then, press Control S on both your connecting clips, trim either the first or the second clip, and you'll notice the audio will 'intrude' onto the other clip. Then add a crossfade on that audio. This will make more sense in the video 😊

@@dylanjohndickerson Place an image file on above a primary storyline (jpg/png), select the clip, press command+T. The playhead will indicate playback, but nothing plays. Happens on my M1 iMac and 2017 iMac Pro. I can't be the only one with this issue... seems odd. Maybe it's a plugin or something specific to me... -AW
