I just took a old bar and drilled a couple holes then screwed it to the end of my work bench works the same way except it doesn't cost anything I hold the slack in the chain tight with a bungee cord to the floor takes a few minutes to make and we all have a old bar lieing around

This definitely would be an asset if people bring you their chains. You’ll just have to play around with adjustments on different gauge drive links. One suggestion was 2 cheap vise grips from Harbor Freight to hold the chain, one on each side. Thanks for watching and commenting.👍TCT

Hi Tony. I use the vise in my shop for filing a chain that’s on the saw. For sharpening multiple chains, I use the Chicago Electric Chain Saw Sharpener. Outside in the yard or woods, I use the Oregon Filing Vise, that you hammer into a 12” or so log, then just clamp the chainsaw to it. Anther great informative video🪵👍

I was wondering if something like this existed because often when I'm in the field it's just way more expedient to swap on a new chain than to sharpen in a stump vice. But then when you get back you have the problem of multiple dull chains.

Tony cool tools you should had waited Chris in the wood yard probably get one for FREE to try . You probably could use a lock washer and wings nuts to tight your 3/8 chain . I knew up with a spare chain and bar in the forest. Sometimes up 289 to 410 guys running the chainsaw the same time on the side off a mtns cutting wood . Time is money in cutting timber like BILLY RAY SMITH own buckin on U tube sharpen with a hand file tony . Still good idea for guys in the wood yard for SURE . I got to go got old 930 CAT loader warm up again take a bucket off corn over to the field feed the moose for the winter . Keep the fat on them for the cold weather. Tong own 31 days left for winter 😊keep up GREAT VIDEO TONY .

Leonard thanks for your suggestion, unfortunately a lock washer and wing nut doesn’t have the same finger leverage a cam lock has. I’m gonna play around with this tool a bit more to se if I can get it to clamp more consistently on .050 ga chain. This tool probably wouldn’t be for someone working on the side of a mountain, to big and heavy to carry around. They might use a stump vise put probably just put it on a log and hand file. Tony, does it really need to be locked into place? When I sharpen on the saw its not locked into place, all has is the normal tension but is loose so I can rotate it as needed.
@TonysCoolTools
@TonysCoolTools Жыл бұрын
Rob when I hand file I set the saw brake on because I am pushing on the chain pretty hard. But, when I sharpen with the dremel I just rotate the chain around the bar without using the brake because I’m not pushing hard.
