Seeing Stewart and John walking a field and figuring out its story touches my heart. Legends, both of them. So gratified to see the team working together again on something so important. Pretty sure Dr. Mick, Robin, Victoria and the rest are out there with them making sure they go right.

Gosh I love this show. I am in Chicago and I remember watching the old episodes with Mick, Tony, Phil and the gang years ago. I have learned so much and enjoyed so much. Because of some medical conditions I will never realize my life's dream and visit England but Time Team has shown me places I would never have seen otherwise. Thanks to all 😃

Look, I haven't even finished the episode -- but watching John and Stuart walking around together through the fields, checking John's phone, is such a brilliant development in their working relationship. Those who don't know their history on Time Team (they weren't arch-rivals, but disagreed a lot, and even argued against each other's discipline) won't get how beautiful a moment this is to behold. It starts around 9 minutes in. What a great sight to behold!

Gotta love a LIVE transmission, no big deal with the minor "glitches". I think this is going to become a real "Annual Event" for Time Team & Sutton Hoo as long as the "discoveries" warrant the intrusions. So good to get this "Behind the Scenes" look at what promises to be an incredible finished Special Episode next year. Tony, we missed ya!, Love Gus for the new 3 Day Digs, but glad you decided to come back! Will be a Patreon for as long as I can, what a legacy that is being created with the help of the Fans!! This is all so exciting! Thank you for sharing this “raw edit?” It’s wonderful to see so many of the original gang back together. I was hoping they would mention Phil when they found the flints. I would love to see him make a visit to the site. To me he wasn’t always given the serious respect he deserved; often being the target of teasing. I think he was loved by his teammates, but perhaps not as esteemed, possibly because he didn’t come across as the well heeled professor, with his regional accent, and he wasn’t as reserved. It shouldn’t be that way, but I think there is still a remnant of the class system alive and well in the UK. Nevertheless, I love Time Team, and I’m particularly pleased that Tony is back presenting.

I didn't even try to fill it out because I knew I couldn't afford to fly into England let alone pay for transportation to the site and finding a place to stay. That is clearly an innovative technique: Field walking in three dimensions, where the fourth (time) gets thrown in. That archeology destroys a site. That is old hat, and not entirely true - in fact not true at ALL. The finding of the Sudden Hoo ship was just the start. The excavation pointed to a hitherto vastly more interesting context: A site that had been in use for around a millenium, where so little is known from other sources. This is a breakthrough dig and a great success for Helen (and Jackie). Who would have thought a small finds speciealist was useful for quite a lot more than throwing beer bottles away. Jakie as well: OK, we suspected that they had died (just a wild hunch). But what, when and how they died (and lived) and looked. I particularly liked the warrior grave of a woman - giving whole new meaning to the phrase "Old Battleaxe of woman" - Oscar Wilde would have loved it! Just as Shakespeare would have loved it, if Helen found Hamlets grave (his son was named Amled). By the way for the landscaper: The place of Elsinore is not Helsingør, but the fortification just across the strait: Helsingborg (in what is for now "temporarily occupied Scania" by the criminal swedes. (as Jack Nicholson would have phrased it: "Is rhere any other KIND?"

Surprised that Tony or Helen didn't mention how ecstatic Phil Harding would have been to see the FLINT TOOLS. Hopefully Phil will make a cameo appearance one day - next to the Mick doll.

Huh. Didn't stop after 3 days. Didn't rain on the dig. Evidenty, minimal beer and wine consumed. Are we sure this is Time Team?

Trust me, there was definitely quite a bit of beer and wine consumed.

Please explain the metallic artifact found at the end. Tony was so excited but it was not clear what we were looking at! Flat surface with something etched into it? A head/ face?

It could be the missing pieces of the metal bucket that they had found in a much earlier dig - its on show in the Exhibition Centre

Its the bottom half of the Bromeswell bucket. Top half was ploughed up by a farmer in the late 1980's.

I love how the camera crew have just completely given up on trying to follow Stewart around, and just given him a camera to film himself with.

Only oldtimers like Helen, Jackie the bone lady, The Geo twins Stewart and John with sir Tony make it work for me. Sure Miss Micks physical presence but don't think for one minute he isn't there watching over shoulders. Bit of grey there on Matt.😘

Where does this come from? It’s great to see the Time team team back together. I didn’t know. They were still doing it. Fantastic. It was always my favourite programme.

Phil Harding would have loved all those flint microliths! Personally, I'm excited to know about the boat-like feature John found. I'm thinking it may well be later than Saxon but would still be an exceptional find if it is a boat.
I wish I could change THIS fast! 🤣
