I so wish Phil and Tony would be a part of the new episodes. It's great seeing some of the original cast, but Phil and Tony were such a HUGE part of the show, the new episodes feel incomplete. Very glad they are doing it at all though.

Tony will be coming back, according to Time Team Official's latest. If you need Phil content, have a look at the Wessex Archaeology channel 👍

Tony's seemingly coming back to narrate more Specials. Instead of being on the digs, zipping between trenches & interviewing various Team members on the fly, he's going to be doing voiceover & intro/outros for scripted investigations of recent archaeological research. He used to do that during Time Team's original run, too, & I'm quite excited about it because most of his recent shows skew a bit away from academic rigor toward entertaining insinuation. Whatever the case: we'll find out soon! 😍

Love these digs but I'd tuned in fully expecting to find that bone cave dig from the early 90's in the list. Those that went down there, including the camera crew, definitely earned their keep on that one. Phil's scuba dig of a wreck off the southern coast would possibly have been my second pick.

This is exactly what I thought. Surely some of the cave/diving episodes should make this list. Maybe also one of the episodes where they’re at the mercy of the tides or in a hard to reach place or with awful weather.

If I’m ever asked to play a part where I need an English accent, I am going to do Phil. The scary part is that I’ve seen all these episodes.

Yous should really be using a turf cutter you know to prevent less damage and it would look a lot nice when putting the turf and it will take less time for the grass to recover. Just an idea for the future

I'm confused why these three digs are labeled TT's Hardest digs. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what is meant by the title. There were several other digs I would consider much harder than these. The bone cave that almost caved in or the site on the coast they had to basically Zipline out to. Or any of the underwater sites I would consider to be much harder sites to excavate. Tony even says in the last section, that they've dug under much worse conditions than what they experienced there.

You should EXPLAIN why were these the hardest digs. Especially 'cause to viewers others might seem more difficult🙂 For the new Team: 1)You need at least 2 members with more personality and humor, real not staged 2) More TEAM work and discussions. New episodes felt strange, like everybody was doing their own thing. 3) Too much "new tech" too little archeology and history stories that relate to that dig 4) It is better to make 1 Great episode then 5 mediocre All the best from a true fan

how are you defining 'hardest' or 'toughest' only watched the first two and they looked pretty normal/easy digs - the one that came to mind to me was the huge hillfort that wasn't
@GoodForYou4504
@GoodForYou4504 Жыл бұрын
Well, like many things, to decide what digs were difficult, guess you had to be there, and they were. (But the hillfort episode must have been a contender!)

I thought they were referring to the scale of the digs.
@neilfleming2787
@neilfleming2787 Жыл бұрын
@@angellahanson8343 if that was the case then definitely the one with the supposed promontory fort with the huge ditch would be right up there. enormous site, horrible conditions and deep archaeology. I thought the Portsmouth one was just your basic run of the mill dig, they had maps, they had paintings they had fairly nice geophysics and the archaeology was fairly near the surface
@kieranclarges2514
@kieranclarges2514 Жыл бұрын
Serious Question: Has geophysics ever found what their looking for? Im re-watching time team, Im about halfway through series 4 and everytime, geophysics comes in, they claim to have found everything and then by the end of day 1 "oh no nothing found". then day 2 starts in the helicopter to get an aerial view. You see contours set up trenches and then you find things... i guess what I'd really like is a compilation of times geophysics actually found things.

They do get better, as the years go by and the tech improves, but for most of the first half of seasons they're pretty hit or miss (mostly miss)
@stephenarbon2227
@stephenarbon2227 Жыл бұрын
Seems to depend on the conditions and what they're looking for. They have a lot of success tracing the outlines of Roman settlements, but trying to find Anglo-Saxon burials etc what were holes that have become filled in with the surrounding soil, they don't get that far.

So what happens to these dig sights when there done filming
@angelwings1979
@angelwings1979 Жыл бұрын
It depends on each site. A lot of times the TT dig is done to see if a more thorough investigation (and therefore more money spent) should be done. A lot of times the site is then explored by local archeologist and written up for publication.
