Ahhhhhhhh, that 289 is music to my ears. had one bored .40 over with roller, heavy harmonic balancer, 650 cfm holley splitfire plugs and the kitchen sink. Best little motor ever. It was in my 1966 fastback mustang. Long tube headers to silencer mufflers. Definitely a sleeper. Worst thing about that engine was the fuel pump. Always needing a newer diaphragm. It required more fuel than that lil pump could give. Taking me back a few years. Thank you.

You are the kind of guy that I could spend an hour or two just showing ya the neat stuff in my shop, the things I've collected over a lifetime, and you would appreciate all of it. "our" history is way too important to let rot away, and this machine is history. My grandfather was a Texaco dealer for many years, I have his "Authorized Texaco Franchise" certificate framed, hanging on the wall in my shop. It is dated 1933. Also have a bunch of gas rationing stamps from WWII. I got a feeling we could burn through some wobble pops out there one day.

What Canadians won't do for a good time! We lived near the big banked oval track at Waldheim, Saskatchewan, Canada, where the Sno Pro races were held for years. That's exactly the place where this creation could be exhibited in its glory. Every winter my brother and my dad and I would bundle up and head up there. We'd sit in the stands and breathe in the heady smell of av gas and two stroke oil. That's where I was introduced to hot Dr. Pepper. Intermissions always brought out crazy stuff. Motorcycles with studded tires raced each other. Sky divers landed in the infield. Great memories....

Derek: you looked, and sounded, helluva disappointed at the end there and your bruvver's sudden out-pouring of emotion certainly made his feelings clear. Reading the comments, it's not just you two who want to see this beastie scoot round a field or two. It's certainly your decision but I/we/you know that you two could fix this monster and, having got her running like she is, it seems a real shame not to fix on the ol' gal.😢
