As you talked of the concrete patio two things came to mind. 1. The stamping. We have a stamped patio and like you are out in the country. The divots in the stamping gather dust and dirt and with a bit of moisture they become mud pits. So if your going to stamp then think about cleaning out low spots and maybe pick a pattern that doesn't provide for water collection. 2. If doing cuts in the concrete to control cracking consider using a Ray pattern. The rays extend out from an imaginary center and fan out across the patio and off the edge. The rays represent the goodness that radiates out from your home in all directions. lg

Did you calk over the top of nail head? I would recommend it since it helps keeps moisture from getting under the nail and causing the nail to pull out. It also hides the nail after you paint it. It doesn’t take much and you wipe with a wet rag to blend it in we also calk the joints to. Just a thought from a siding guy.
@tylermurray22653 жыл бұрын
Absolutely right, I know it’s too late, but a 16 gauge x 2 1/2” brad bail would have also helped reduce the visibility of nail heads. I would also be putting in some drip edges to help with water shed on horizontal pieces. Listen to us arm chair critics, lol! I love their property and what they are doing. Just pointing out some potentially helpful advice.😁
@dorothyallen36143 жыл бұрын

This will be your forever home, so plan now for your older age needs. Stairs to any entrance will be very difficult for anyone needing a walker or wheelchair. Added ramps at the time of need are never easy. Also make sure bathroom doors are wide enough for walkers or wheelchairs. We left our rural, off grid home after 28 years but we were so happy we made these adjustments initially.
