I know it's only sponsorship but I'm over 50 with zero credit, I have always lived by the motto, never borrow and never lend, a motto that's served me well, I built and paid for my own house with my own labour and my own money as I earned it, always debt free and clear, it's the only way to have true liberty in this world.

You called your channel “Good Simple Living” and I’ve been watching you folks for a long time. Build a farm from scratch, raise kids, build stuff, raise livestock, build stuff, organize a massive toy drive, and then build more stuff. I only have one question, when does the “simple” part kick in? 😁 Honestly, you folks are awesome!

Keep getting the kids to help out on your project where you can, it'll build skills, and memories that will last a lifetime. I "helped" dad working on the car from when i was 2 years old, he still tells the tail if me being a bit of a pest when a neighbour came over to chat while we worked on the car (back in very early 70's). He handed me the jack handle and told me to take the hubcaps off the tires. The friend had a good laugh and said that'll take care of him for the day. Minutes later he hears the sound of the first hubcap hitting the ground. I ended up working in a car making factory and have great skills using either hand for the job at hand. You're giving them skills that'll set them up for life!

A suggestion…install gutter and down spout at low end of hay feeder roof to catch water in a water trough. Helps eliminate mud and mud lakes around the feeder. Here in Tennessee it’s a must to try to contain the effects of accumulating water and stomping critters.

Would it be good to feed it into a trough for them as well? or off into the garden somehow. but always reuse the water somehow.
@SagebrushRambles
@SagebrushRambles 2 жыл бұрын
I think the difference with their feeder is that it's mobile. Adding a trough would make it less mobile unless the trough was on skids also and not attached to the feeder. Sounds like a pain the rear. Easier to just pull the feeder out of a mud bog to a less churned up spot.

One option is to cut 3/4 way through bowed 2x4 to make ' relief cuts ' that will take pressure off of bow, then add necessary structural support on either side. That way you won't damage the exterior. Snow weight will be an issue so more is better.

I enjoy watching you two doing this on your own and knowing when to call in the pro's. I've been building homes for over 20 years and without completely seeing your truss, my best guess is that the wood in the truss didn't get a stiff back. That's where you add another 2x to make a T or L shape support to provide stiffness and to help keep it fairly straight. Another thing before insulation and drywall, I would suggest putting blocking in for curtains, towel rods, TP holder and along the kitchen wall where your upper cabinets are going. Makes it a lot easier to hang stuff.

Yes, Ma'am. The faith of a mustard seed will get us through all life's trials. God's plan will make itself known in his time. I've learned in my 64 years of life, I just have to get out of the way sometimes and let God put his plan into action. May your blessing continue to flow!

Melissa and Jeremy, great job of putting the horse feeder together and your roofing job. I really appreciate how you are instilling a work ethic with your children and allowing them to participate in doing various jobs in building there new home. I did it for my children and they did it to their children. So proud of my twin grandchildren, both worked summer jobs while attending college. They are now seniors in college and graduating in May 2022. (4 yrs) Keep up the great vids. You all have a beautiful homestead and a loving family.

What?! Reading directions!? Next thing you know Jeremy will stop and ask for directions when lost on a road trip! lol I was glad when i finally built my own garage and heated it and put in AC. What a game changer. I would`ve like to had it alot bigger, but the only place i could build it had restrictions. That big barn is great! As far as the gable end bow, you could put angle iron on both sides if there isn`t room to come out with a strong-back. I am sure you`ll get it fixed, you 2 have the bwains needed to think it through. lol Take care
