I too am an only child and lost my mom suddenly and unexpectedly to ovarian cancer. She passed early on Christmas morning 4 yrs ago. Watching your journey of losing your mom and wrapping up her affairs brought so so so much back to my mind. Your blessed to have a husband holding you up thru this time, God bless you both.

You two are such a blessing to me. I’m 70 year old widow and since my husband passed 11years ago I’ve tried putting everything in place so my son and his family don’t have to worry about anything. I’m getting my house ready with repairs on them but I’ve put my son in charge of it. I’m so sorry for your loss. I was looking forward to seeing your mom in Alaska living there with you ❤. My heart hurts for you sweetheart. ❤thank you for sharing this with all of us

An idea: How do you want to honor your mother. Do you want to plant a tree at your home for her? Write a cook book of her favorites? Do a plaque to hang of her favorite sayings? Do you want to start a mutual help group among your neighbors etc. Do you want to grow a certain plant next spring? Do you want …? How best to keep her memory going? Something to plan on during your long drive? I wish I could make it all better for you. I am a 72 year old mother and grandmother. You and your husband give us so much by taking us along on your journey in life. You have years ahead to offer the world so much good.

I lost my beautiful Mama in Nov of 2020-I will never be the same person. I understand driving away from your Mamas home she loved and lived in-mine for 45 years. Living in a world without the one who gave you life is difficult as you will find. But their love reaches you from Heavens clouds...look for her,she will be near you always. Death doesn't stop Mamas from loving their babies. Safe travels. 🙏💛🙏

I love your mom's sweet little house. Your guys did a fantastic job renovating the house for your niece. I hope she appreciates it and loves it as much as your did. I too am sad for your mom's expected passing. I shed tears knowing you are going back home without your her. This is not how it was supposed to happen. Mom is looking down and is so proud of you and Gary and family for all your hard work. She can now rest in peace knowing her home is in good hands. God Bless you guys and have a safe trip home.

So sorry for all the tuff month you have had to go through. On your way home trust me you and Gary will see some adventures that you will make it special memories. There might not be a rainbow for you folks but you will see something. I am a Canadian so you will see some beautiful sights. Believe me I know as BC is is a beautiful province. Good idea to have the chains as it can snow any time, so it is better to be safe than sorry. Losing your mom is always a sad part of your life as your. Mom is the person who helped develop your strength and your personality. I still talk to my mom when I need some answer. Both of you folks have a safe trip home.💖💙💖💙

I would love to sell it, but all the work to go through everything just defeats me. I would love to have house like your Mom's. I love the covered porch the backyard is gorgeous!!!!! I live in the desert, so my yards are sand 😢😢😢So I am going to live my dreams through your adventures. So keep smiling, keep hugging, and DANCE once in a while!! LOL!! Your mom was so blessed to have a beautiful young woman for a daughter. I'm a 63 year old who wasn't blessed with children. I've lived off grid here in Trapper Creek Alaska for over 22 years now, and I just really wished I was able to have children because now I'm starting to have some serious health issues myself. I need help here with so many things that I used to do all by myself and now I'm not sure what to do.

Hi Stacey & Gary, please drive home safely. Keep your eyes and heart moving forward. I'm 63 and just paid for my cremation and listed on paper very short list of bills, accounts, life insurance, and the process of what my daughter will do upon my death. Of course, it wasn't anything she wanted to discuss, but I think it's always good not to leave family totally blind in the end.

Don’t forget a password list. My mom put every password of her life into an address book. I can’t tell you how much that helped me get into her accounts and answer some mysteries. I know it’s a hard conversation to have but both my Mom and my Dad had it with me and it helped me know what to do.

You guys have done an amazing job with your mom’s home, she is very proud of what you have accomplished. Stacy, she will always be with you, there may be a fleeting scent that goes by that reminds you of her, or a quick dream or memory. You’ll be filled with emotions that come on like a tone of bricks, but that’s ok, this is how we cope with loss so dear to our heart. I wish you nothing but strength peace and joy as you head back home to Alaska. Take your time, have some fun on the way, it’s going to be just about winter when you get back! Make sure you have a book or magazines to read, that helps. 🤗

Yes it’s a BC thing. From Oct 1 to April 30 you have to have M&S tires or carry chains. We hope to return the chains to Napa as long as we don’t use them when we return to Alaska. If it’s a snowy day we will just pull over and wait it out.

Oh, my heart hurts for you. I dread the day I have to face this situation. Your mom is proud of you and the decisions you've made. And be a blubbering mess as much as you need. My dad has been gone 10 years next month, and I still have breakdowns from missing him. Travel safe and big hugs to you and Gary. I'm excited to see Newman in his new home! ❤

Dear hearts Stacey and Gary, the house looks beautiful! You, family and friends, did an amazing job. Yes, I'm sure your Mom has a big smile and saying " I'm so proud of Stacey and Gary for everything they've done " Best part is that the house will be in good hands. I want to thank you both, for taking me along to the farms and everywhere. I'm saying "me" because I feel like I'm in the back seat looking at all those beautiful places in Alaska and other areas that otherwise I wouldn't be able to go. Stacey, there's nothing wrong by taking with you some things from the house your Mom loved. You will find a special place to display them. Many blessings for you and Gary. Have a save trip back home to Alaska. Love you.

You did an amazing job on your Mom’s house. God’s plan is always best, even though it’s hard to understand sometimes. This job would have had to be done eventually. Nice to have done it while you’re still able bodied. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. Safe travels! ❤️
