I have to say that these beginner save my disaster campaign videos tend to be more interesting/entertaining than the ones where the player has done more or less everything right. Here we have a short and fun 17min video of a seemingly dire situation cheesed into the stratosphere and back with Legend's human mask slipping at times. Meanwhile on another video the game has thrown an impossible situation onto an adept player and Legend spends 50 minutes first wasting the enemy ammo with his lord and then kiting the enemy around the map while picking enemy units off one by one :D

I find disaster situations that end up on the overworld map tend to be less exciting, beginner or not. However, there are some exceptions to this generalization like this video. I have put almost 300 hours into this game and still havent found a race to call my "main" and also cant play above normal difficulty without getting frusterated so watched a turn around like this is always mind boggling

You don't necessarily need a "main race" tbh. And it's not as hard as you think to play on higher difficulties. A lot of it has to do with mindset. Take it slow and scout. Good map vision can make worlds of difference in how you play with every race. With good scouting you can build armies to counter what the enemies have and plan ahead. Also AI tend to have a general path they like to follow. Orks for example tend to go after the dwarves, boarder princes, vampires, then empire. Or alternatively dwarves, boarder princes, into brettonia, then Empire. So you can watch what the AI does for the most part over multiple campaigns and catch a general trend sometimes.

You should really do a doomstack units for people who only play auto-resolve tactical map campaigns not manual battles. Because it is really time consuming most of the times I sometimes prefer auto resolving accepting little bit of damage to save 10-20 min.

The problem with that is the game considers certain stats very valuable when in reality its not that important. Good example is armor. With almost every race having decent amount of armor piercing it really doesnt matter in the late game, yet its valued really high. Also missile strenght can be very misleading for the game. Building auto resolve armies, especially in higher difficulties can really screw you over. Like vampire coast bombers are really strong in auto resolve, but basically would loose against a full stack of skavenslaves. But in general hybrid infantry is very good in auto resolve and kind of decent when you control them, especially if you have heroes to tank until they spend their ammo. So bugman ranger stack, shadow warriors, shades, mistwalkers are really good. I also noticed "monstrous artillery" doing well, so stegadon, bone giant, usthabi greatbow for a lesser degree will win one on one against most AI armies in auto resolve. Also hero stacks tend to do really well, but not every race has the option. But HE nobles on chariot, Empire Amber wizards on griffon are also very strong.

If you are going to do this, you need to always scout ahead and get lightning strike. The AI decides how much to send at you based largely on your auto-resolve strength. If you build an auto-resolve army, they'll just send more force at you than you can auto-resolve, and then you're fucked. So you have to make sure you're always attacking (never giving them a chance to send more at you than you can auto-resolve).

@@Loj84 actually no. No to all. If you were a tactical map player you'd know that you always overrun enemy based on auto resolve centred stacks. Lightning strike is a good optional addition. Actually ai don't understand your auto resolve strength as legend showed us in the past weeks video. Some armies are crap at the field battles but game tends to favor them in auto battles. So you can win with crap stacks just because their auto resolve value is greater than their cost. and ai never tries to overwhelm you with sheer force. They never build infinite amount of armies although having unlimited cash. AI isn't coded to understand what you said.

@@radec1906 I have almost 1000 hours of dwarf gameplay between WH1 and 2. Trust me, I know how autoresolve works. And that is not what legend said at all. Crapstacks work because they punch above their value in battle, not in autoresolve. What legend said actually supports what I'm saying: the AI sends less force at a crapstack because of its poor autoresolve power. They can do much better than their autoresolve power, though, which means you can manually fight the battles and win. The higher your autoresolve power, the more the AI sends at you.

@Legend re setting up the ratling guns, the tree thing was fixed back in Twisted and Twilight; "Projectiles now have the ability to pass through trees for a limited time after being created. This is a global rule that applies to all non-artillery units. This behaviour lasts for a limited duration after the projectile is fired, relative to the speed of the projectile. Significantly reducing instances of units firing weapons into trees that are a few feet from them."

Best way to use undercities is to send an engineer on a long adventure to Altdorf and Karaz a Karak. Upgrade to steal the settlement's cash and never think about them again.

This is why I continue to watch LoTW's content. Out of all videos out there covering WH, none are as educational as his. He drops a lot of gems here and there and it is hard to have a composite guide for all of tactics and know-how about the game. But no other content creator teaches like he does. Also, I can understand the OP's situation. It took awhile for me to get a full grasp of the game and I didn't know what was what. I cringe at what I probably did with my army composition, hero builds and city-campaign management back when I first started, only I wouldn't have the balls to send in a save file to legend for all to see. I give Legend all the credit for turning me into a decent player. I distinctly remember the turning point. I played a Clan Skyre campaign and I think it was my first vhard-vhard. This is back when that dlc just came out. I was humming along fine until the Order Tide came a-knocking. It was so overwhelming I just stopped playing it. I gave up. Later I watched this channel's videos. I started to understand things like having plague priests and theirs summons, customizing weapons teams, terrain effects to consider, why I should go for the cunning trait, why I shouldn't use plague monk censor bearers in Skrolk's army just because I thought that's how it was supposed to be, etc etc. I quit that game around turn 200. I fought back all of the High elves, Empire, Brettonnia and Dwarf forces and finished a full map completion at around turn 350. Been praising and offering cheese for the Cheese God ever since.

To be fair, Khazrak is a REALLY good ally early game just because of how the beastmen works now. He will literally gift you 10k almost every time you ask for some payment (there's a cooldown of 5 turns for it tho) and it can really help with the construction of your cities since you're gonna be pushing them to tier 5 and the construction costs for the buildings is going to be very expensive, plus he can beat up Carcassonne or at least keep them busy while you kill Tilea and Sartosa and may have to deal with Belegar, since he usually gets pissed off and declares war really soon (and I want to get rid of those fucking ghost darfs as soon as possible)
