As for the girl who was overly tanned. Based on her accent and overall “look”, I’m guessing she’s an Irish traveller. Speaking from experience, all travellers here in Ireland apply tan that is wayyy too dark for them to the point that they look like a different race! I’ve actually seen darker than her! Their makeup is always crazy dramatic as well. No one thinks it’s attractive but it is what it is.

When I was back in college, I would mainly just use a cleanser and a moisturizer, but after graduating and trying to figure out what my skin needs, I've come up with some products I find helpful. Here's my routine list: CeraVe Foaming Cleanser Bar -> Paula's Choice 2% BHA serum -> CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol (originally used Inkey List's Retinol cream but couldn't find it recently) -> Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel (had to switch recently because of the Neutrogena Combination Skin Moisturizer being disconinued :c ) -> (during the day) Neutrogena Clear Face SPF 50 sunscreen. I have combination skin, so I tend to have a lot of congestion and blackheads in my T zone. These products have worked well for me and continue to maintain my skin. If anyone has additional knowledge or recs for combination skin, please feel free to let me know! ❤

Hey! Sounds like you have a good routine started! It’s great that you use sunscreen each day. I would suggest using your retinol at night though and maybe trying to incorporate a vitamin C serum in the morning? You can look into using an AHA/BHA serum blend in the night if you have any texture or issues with pores and/or fine lines but make sure to alternate this with retinol- not using them the same night.

When I was in high school it was super normal to go to the tanning beds all the time and get super tan. My boyfriend used to tell me I was turning orange this was just something we did back then. Also it’s normal for some women to tan that much when they are into body building or doing shows ect. Just because someone is tanning to maybe a color you don’t think is natural doesn’t mean they are trying to change their skin tone it truly could be this women grew up in the 2000’s and still likes to have that dark tan that was popular in our day. Just a small observation.. who knows I could be wrong to but just a thought.

I'm just curious and I could be missing a detail/ignorant around this discussion: why would it hurt someone else to get a significantly darker tan if you're not trying to look like a different race? The girl in the video didn't look like another race, she was orange... She needed a better undertone and she wasn't fooling anyone about her race. If she was trying to fool someone, she's failing. If she likes looking orange, cool more power to her in her tangerine dreams 🍊. Maybe orange is her favorite color. Idgaf If it's not black face (mocking black people for being black) or black/Asian fishing, I feel like there are situations where it could be ok. I could be wrong and idk. I'm mixed and am white passing. If I tanned I would get really dark and look like my dad. Heck I might even be discriminated against if I consistently tanned that way because I look like him. It sucks that he has to go through that and I've been deeply affected having to see him go through that. I have a deep empathy towards people who have been affected by racism because I've experienced it second hand. I am privileged that I haven't been through the kind of institutionalized racism he's gone through first hand and I acknowledge that privilege. Would it be wrong for me to tan really dark, though? I guess I could try not to tan but.... How does that help dismantle racism? Is that just to not flaunt being white? That's like saying a rich person shouldn't buy nice things as to not taunt poor people. It's a complicated discussion... People can't control being white or the fact that tanning is a beauty standard in western society. Sometimes people tan on accident... It would be wrong to purposefully rub it in someones face that you're white and they're not as a taunt. I guess it's just odd to direct that anger towards someone when that person isn't being racist. The fact that people treat her better than you while having the same skin color is racist. The other people are being racist in that scenario and not her if she's not in on it and is just tanning to look like she went on vacation: which is why tanning became a beauty standard in the west for white people. Because it showed you had money to go on holiday at a sunny place and lay around and do nothing as to tan. Blame Coco Chanel. Should we all just protest tanning as a beauty standard in solidarity with POC because they can't get the same social advantages? Interesting discussion and idk the answers

Tanning to the point where you look a different race is extremely problematic. Her intent doesn’t matter when her impact was harmful. POC that are darker skin don’t get to pick and choose on which day of the week when they are going to be darker skin and for yt ppl to treat dark skin like a trend when POC are being discriminated against and experiencing colorism for it, is a spit in the face. Being tan is a new “beauty standard” created by who exactly? Right. Being you natural tanning color isn’t the issue here you quite literally can’t help that and nobody with a valid opinion is going to fault someone for that. it’s the going out of your way to tan to the point where you are mimicking a group of people who face real discrimination for something they naturally are because you thinks it’s trendy that’s the issue.

I need help! I have oily and acne all over my cheek I'm 15 years old and I've been trying to clear my skin for 7 months I've been trying out different skincare until recently I started using - CerVe foaming cleanser - niacinamide, zinc serum (the ordinary) - moisturiser (the ordinary) I've been sticking to this routine for 3 months but my skin has gotten so much worse, I'm confused because whenever I use sunscreen or moisturiser my skin starts peeling off but when I stop using it my skin turns dry. The niacinimide serum burns and irritates my skin. I'm not sure what to do now. I feel like there's products I'm missing out on but I don't know where to start.
@MadeleineLouiseDiRosa Жыл бұрын
ditch the sunscreen, moisturizer, and niacinamide... just use the cleanser and mix it with a little bit of jojoba oil and rosemary. you probably have sensitive skin to products, just like me. also cerave is good but i wouldnt use the foaming one because it strips your skin. use the blemish/acne control one instead... and use a generous amount because you have oily skin. also you have to try indian healing clay. i used to have oily skin but i used indian healing clay 1-3 times a day for about two weeks, and now my skin is balanced and hasn't been oily for 2 years now. and only wash your face at night bc your skin repairs itself while youre sleeping and youre just washing away all your bodys hard work if you cleanse in the morning. instead, ice your face in the morning, it can reduce acne and hyperpigmentation by so much. just rub an ice cube on the inflamed areas and you should see crazy results in just a few days. also, it seems like you either keep your hair on your face, or touch it a lot... or both? never ever do either!! drink a lot of water, clean up your diet, change your pillowcase often, sleep well before 2am, get at least 7 hours of sleep, do some deep breathing everyday, follow my steps, and you should have clear skin in no time!!

I've heard that AHAs shouldn't be mixed with Peptides. If I'm using a moisturizer with peptides can I use an AHA exfoliator?

hyram‘s probably not gonna read this but here‘s my routine anyways: in the morning i cleanse with cetaphil‘s daily cleansing lotion (no foaming). then i use my skin 1004 centella water sunscreen and don‘t even need a moisturizer for my oily skin beforehand. then my lunchtime i‘ll cleanse my face with just water bc i‘m oily AF and then reapply my sunscreen. when i get home from work the first thing i‘ll do is washing my face. first i go in with garnier‘s pink micellar water, then i go in with cerave‘s cleansing oil. it‘s called a cleansing oil but it foams up so idk… then i moisturize with benton‘s aloe hyaluron or aloe propolis moisturizer. depends on how much moisture i need. 3x a week i apply differin gel after that and once a week i apply garnier‘s 5% glycolic acid toner before moisturizer. and that‘s about it…

That first routine is not pimple patches over her forehead. They’re “Frownies” which are designed to reduce fine lines and wrinkles

Hyram I’ve noticed in your videos you always say toner is unnecessary but I disagree toner is the the second step in your skincare after you cleanse, when cleansing you strip your face so you need toner to bring your ph back up. So if you only cleanse and moisturize you skin will not be up to the right ph.

I would love to know if it is an issue to intentionally tan your skin at all, or only if it makes you look like a different race? I use self tanner to make me look slightly more tan, and don't want to offend anyone 🤔
@learahsolis6985 Жыл бұрын
As someone who is a poc I personally have no problem with people using fake tan to achieve that natural glowy summer tan but if it's to the point where I can't tell your race then that's when it's a problem
