@@dionesiaortega you should know by now that the theory is debunked,The Mad king was mad because he was always insane,it wasn't because of bran,season 8 is the last season none of those fan theories such as bran time traveling to the mad have happened and will never happen. Bran is most likely the voice in The Mad King's head. Bran uses his abilities to tell him to "burn them all", meaning the White Walkers since it's their weakness, but instead the king burns the citizens. Thus, making him The Mad King. But that's just a theory.

Another issue: fire does nothing to the white walkers, it just kills the wights. Bran knows this. So why would he tell Aerys to "burn them all" even though the real threat are the NK and the other WWs who are all unaffected by fire?

Bran will not be trying to change the past again since he’s seen what happens when he tries. He was still an apprentice when he tried with Hodor and his father. He’s now the three eyed raven. He’s not a kid anymore.

Because they don't know they can't change the events. Always in this type of time travel style the characters travel in time with the desire of changing something, not knowing they will be the source of what they want to change. It's called predestination. Also, determinism in philosophy describes this. By the way, Bran doesn't want to change the past, he is just looking for answers in the past to act in the present time.

30 seconds into this video, and I just noticed something. In both Attack on Titan and Game of Thrones, Eren and Bran both travel back in time to observe memories like its a dream. They can actually manipulate the events that happen in the dream, but they aren't really manipulating anything. They are just doing the same thing over and over again because it has happened before.

In Game of Thrones, The Wall is a magically constructed barrier to keep the Others (undead) away from the Seven Kingdoms. The Nights Watch are the only ones allowed out and exist to inspire hope as well as act as a place for the kingdom to send their unwanted and criminal populace. The Others as we find out are not monsters but unwillingly changed beings by the Children of the Forest.

How I'm so happy to see somebody mentioning the AoT Bootstrap Paradox. Both Eren and Bran were using powers that they didn't have in order to lead to a timeline were they acquire those powers. Eren needed to use the Founding Titan to go back in time so that he may influence events that lead to him getting that power in the first place. Same with Bran. He had to use his "future" powers to "go back in time" and ensure that he ends up getting the power. However, there actually isn't any concept of "going back in time" as these events have been shown to have already occured in the single existing timeline. Messed up stuff fr, all mind-blowing.

1:03 This is not a theory of time travel, which it is often confused with. In multiverse theory, there are an infinite number of dimensions. You would not be traveling along your own time line, you would simply change dimensions. Not creating a new timeline.

SPOILERS This is why Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is not consistent with the books. Cursed Child has a multiverse timeline, while Prisoner of Azkaban uses a fixed timeline. If the characters in Cursed Child used anything but a Time Turner to go back in time, then it would be OK. But in Prisoner of Azkaban we experience a Time Turner's effects in a fixed timeline, so why 20 years later this kind of device works differently? It doesn't make sense.

I still don't get it tho. Is this "time loop" something I as a human being must accept? Becaue no matter what, I try to make sense of the situations that led to Hodors disability. There must be a timeline, where Hodor was not effected by Brans jedi mind tricks. There has to be a starting point, right? Like a Timeline where Hodor was a normal guy without a disability, where Bran decides to warg into his past self or something along those lines. Also If the Three-eyed raven knew what was going to happen, he had the option to tell Bran something different, but he chose to tell Bran to warg into Hodor. What if he told Bran something different?

I think it is more the cause and effects that are mixed up. Normally you would say events at a time t have been caused by events before that time. In these types of time loops things will be able to effect things not only in the future, but also in the past regarding our normal view of time. Kind of like time being just like a space point that can be reached from different time points. It would be a bit similar how a cyclical time universe could work with the future coming back into the past. This would though be more at the quantum level. The arrow of time does seem very strange in these types of universes though and I don't think it work well in fiction to be honest. Although it is fantasy.

Yeah, people want to defend it because it is Game of Thrones, but a paradox is a paradox. Closed loop or not, the problem is that it is a loop regardless. The Grandfather Paradox. Bran was there because Hodor dragged him there. Hodor dragged him there because of his disability, and Hodor has his disability because Bran was there

This is why l hate time travel in stories. It messes them up. Why can't they just write a linear story. Time travel is over used in fiction and l hate it. The only one l can accept ( but still prefer if is not there ) is the multiple realities one. Where you never go back in time really but simply jump to another universe. That is the only one that makes sense to me and ends up being more satisfying plot wise because it doesn't create loops or paradoxes or things that undermine the entire freaking story structure. I don't think Got needed this kind of addition. But at least it is a more original way to do it. He doesn't really travel back in time, he creates mind links with people no matter where they are in space or time, which is different, at the very least,.. less seen and more original. Anyway, l prefer stories that have a linear logical timeline with no time travel of sorts happening, unless it is really necessary.

****Potential Spoilers***** I have a question about how this would work. What I don't understand is did Bran warg into Hodor in the past or the present? In the past makes sense because his eyes go white and he is told hold the door, which makes no sense to him at the time and so it appears to him as a vision that he lives the rest of his life with. Also it'd be pretty dark if he warged into him in the present, sacrificing his life without his permission.

Depends on the model: you totally can do that in the dynamic model; it's basically what it's all about. In the multiverse model you disappear from this universe and get into another one (with a younger version of you already in it) and you can do whatever you like with it. Tip the other kid some answers, beat him up to study, murder him and take his place, etc. In the fixed model you can go to the past, but can't change anything. But you can inadvertently get things the way they currently are. You can go to the past and seduce your teacher, then die of cancer. Later on, that teacher likes a kid in his class because he somehow reminds her of that romance. She gives him higher grades than he deserves. The kid comes to like her in part because of that treatment, but finds a romance impossible. So when he grows up, he builds a time machine and goes into the past to meet that teacher being his age. He has a romance with her, then dies of cancer. He thereby fixed his grades, making them A instead of B-.

Which type of time travel is in 11.22.63?
@Birdie518
@Birdie518 8 жыл бұрын
It has the properties of both type 1 and type 3. Type 1: Making changes in the past (eg carving your name in a tree) to create a different present is possible. Type 3: Making BIG changes in the past (eg saving JFK) to create a different present is really difficult and results in the past "fighting back"

i think terminator fits in the latter theory of tiem travel, the closed one, not the multiverse one. If skynet didnt sed the first terminator back, humanity wouldn have been able to create skynet in the first place. A closed loop.

does that mean Bran cannot die until he finishes all the work of the time travel? As if he died before taking hold of hodor's mind and then there will be no hodor in the first place. Is this a paradox?

@@oniondesu9633There are in fact paradoxes in fixed timelines. Look up the Bootstrap Paradox. It's a special kind of loop where the past cannot exist without the future, and said future cannot exist without that particular past. So in essence, neither of the events precede the other as they both cannot exist without one another. Bran needs his powers in order to manipulate Hodor. But at the same time, he also needs manipulated Hodor in order to get those powers in the first place. You cannot determine which of the two occurs first

Yes, what we witnessed was the Bootstrap Paradox. What happened in the past was affected by the future. But that same future would not exist if the aforementioned past did not occur. Both events are a direct outcome of the other. Therefore creating a loop without an origin.

Wait if what you're saying is true, that Bran has been creating the events that have occured in GoT till now. Then how would the first time line have been triggered? Timeline 1: ------------------------------------------------x(existence of Bran 1) Timeline 2: x(Bran 1 effects timeline 2)----------------------x(existence of Bran 2) and so on.... What I'm saying is Timeline 1 could've never been changed since Bran didn't exist, because it was the first timeline. It just doesn't make sense.
@huguespayens14

+Shinji Ikari it can't be just one timeline if (Bran the builder) is truly Bran from the future. Then there would have to be two of them. One that changed past events (Bran the builder) and (Present Bran).

Novi Kargono I'm very late to this reply, but Buckbeak never died. The executioner and Fudge couldn't find him after talking with Hagrid and Dumbledore because future Harry and future Hermione had already released him while they were talking inside Hagrid's hut. The film is only cut for it to appear that an execution occurred, but in reality a giant axe just hit a pumpkin.

He describes it a bit differently, but he definitely has put a lot of thought into it. Bran has warged into a Weirwood and seeing the world through its eyes. This quote from the books might help. "Certain moths live their whole lives in a day, yet to them that little span of time must seem as long as years and decades do to us. An oak may live three hundred years, a redwood tree three thousand. A Weirwood will live forever if left undisturbed. To them seasons pass in the flutter of a moth’s wing, and past, present, and future are one."

I think you are wrong on two occasions. First the movie states: "The ink is dropping" and not "The ink is dry". Just watch the teaser from Game of Thrones. That would then leave room for changes in time. Second: Explain how Bran can worg into Hodor in the present while his eyes are white and he is in the past with bloodraven. He is challenged to worg into Hodor while he observes Willis. While looking at Willis he becomes input from the present, he hears the scream: "We are all going to die. Worg into Hodor, know!". Somehow Willis can sense Bran. Bran panics, he looks around, does not know what to do. He looks intensely at Willis. Then Willis becomes white eyes, a sign that Bran worged into him. But still Bran's eyes are not white in the past. Why does Willis panic? Because Bran transfers his anxiety from the screams he hears inside his brain inside the consciousness of Willis. But we never see Bran worging into Willis.

So you are saying that the things Bran can do to affect the past will result in having the present that he lived/is living. However this isn't true because if Bran would not have affected Hodor from the past but just stick at controlling Hodor from present then there would have not been a link between Past Hodor and Present Hodor and as a result there were no brain damage to Wilis so no Hodor in the Present. For your theory to be true : if Bran doesn't create Hodor, someone else has to create him or something needs to be happening so that Wilis receives that brain damage and becomes Hodor AND this also has to not affect the past in any other way/has to affect the past the same way Bran would have done -which seems impossible because someone/something transformed Wilis into Hodor in the first place and because Bran went into the past and did the job for that person/event the present should be affected. So the GoT timeline seems more like a fixed one where the time walker MUST affect the past as he is doing to create the present from where he comes and this kinda implies that the time walkers already comes from an altered present. However the scene where Bran calls Ned suggests that he can change the past in any way. What Raven said "the past is already written......" is probably false and was meant to make bran not change the past. You should also keep in mind that on the Hodor scene the raven is influencing Bran to affect the past as he did (as it should have been) so Hodor is created and Bran's actions lead to the present he is living. Either way, your theory is wrong.
