Hey all! Even if you're not tuning in today (Nov 6) make sure to wish Ladi a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY here in the comments! We're celebrating by taking a day of rest and being as lazy as humanly possible 🤣 We got some big weeks ahead, but this is the home stretch! Love you Ladi, can't wait to celebrate every birthday you have for the rest of our lives 🎉❤

Can’t wait for part 2 and the rest of the series. So nice to see you reusing materials. I like as well the communal aspect of the work with old friends working together. Keep up the good work and these great videos.

I remember when you moved the containers. btw, top-notch editing on this video, Margaret. Your attention to detail with camera angles, drone shots, and music is noticed. This series should be great. And a big 'happy birthday' to Ladi, of course!

Wow!! You guys are so clever. It is going to be the most incredible ex-scrapyard property by the time you are done with it!! My favourite part so far is that huge roof that covers both containers and the outside area. (Also, excellent editing - just the right amount and speed of time lapse versus speaking and text!!)

Amazing your work ethic is great. Don't forget to have fun too. I used to work hard. Long days 6 or 7 days a week and from 5am to that in the evening. Then in 2012 I found out I had cancer. It changed my life xx

Will you have a fireplace in the new modern remodeled container mini home?? That would be a great way to use up all that wood scrap… or even for BBQs… it’s all a fantastic idea. I bet you make it WONDERFUL! It’s the same here in Japan, keep it all, wrapping paper, department store bags, everything.

My grandparents, who lived through WWII and were raised by parents who survived the Great Depression, also held on to absolutely everything. They weren’t hoarders, far from it. But anything of potential value was set aside. My grandmother practically never threw out plastic bread bags, strings, you name it. These values totally resonate with me!! And we live in Canada - not communist, but arguably socialist if you compare us to our neighbours down south.

I saw a big pallet in the aerial view at the beginning and I thought that big pallet would make a nice back porch deck whatever I don't know what happened to it but glad to see you're doing the recycle. I guess I'm kind of recycling I'm the third generation in this home. Getting ready to take on big things things got to be fixed things need to be replaced because of time and that means lots of people around so they can get it done fast and I said just as long as they know I'm not a big people person in crowds of more than one other person maybe two. I'm kind of an introvert. LOL! I can't wait to see the end.

Huge fan from AlbaNY. Love you two and congratulations on your marriage. Margaret you are a wonderful filmmaker/editor/talent. And you’re quite the comedian. I love when you have dialogues with yourself as two separate characters. As you consider your second-story apartment, I have an idea about how to break up the monolith created by the massive linear rectangles of your main buildings (which is architecturally rather uninteresting, sorry). What about making them look like a European village, where all the buildings are connected … like they have three separate owners/ buildings. You would probably need to punch out (into the driveway) one of the façades to make them look separate. Perhaps consider that when you’re creating a second story on top. And your container homes would be part of that village. That would also allow you to not have to source materials, en masse, to create a uniform look. One roof could be European tiles, another could have a metal roof, and the same goes for exterior finishing materials. Heck you could use all of those bricks that you moved in today’s video to create a faux façade to break up the extreme linearity of your building. And if you didn’t throw away your father-in-law‘s giant street lamp poles, those could be redesigned for your village’s street. And the Village’s courtyard could be in the space between the barn door and where you moved that square blue shed. I can picture a circular brick mosaic in the center of it. Anyway, those are my thoughts as an interior decorator and an archeologist who’s interested in historical buildings.

I have one question: why the roof is leaning to the front and not otherwise? Is there any reason? Because intuitively I would think about directing the rainwater to the back and creating the more “open” space with roof heading yo towards front…
