Do you love your own kitchen? If not, what's the one thing you would change about it?

No, I loathe my kitchen. It's old (1960's) with 6 upper cabinets, 6 lower and 5 drawers. Very little counter space too. One thing I'm wanting is my dishwasher to be built in. It's the kind you roll to the sink because this house never had one. Maybe soon. We've been here 23 years and the way the kitchen is situated doesn't lend itself to expansion. But I enjoy looking at yours!

Not really. It’s a little small and the cabinets are just giant caverns. I would make it bigger and turn the cabinets into drawers.

Yes, I do love my kitchen. I have the same cabinetry you have, the same finish except sink area and stove area finished in the dark Cherry. Love our soft close drawers. The only thing I would change is the garbage can area, I have double doors that you open and then pull the garage can holders out, 2 garage cans and 2 recycle cans. It would be simpler to have it the way your’s is done. Installed in 2008. I do have one big sink which is black. Looks like we have same granite , also.

Renee, I laughed when I saw your fly swatter. I thought I was the only one that kept it there. We bought our new house a few years ago and I absolutely love it. The only thing I would change in the future is our microwave above our stove. For now it works because we don’t use it that much, the nest is empty and it’s just me and my husband. I started watching your channel a few months ago and I’ve been shopping for so many good items you post. I’m enjoying your videos with your husband and your furries. They are so adorable. I love dogs. I’m watching about two videos a day. Awesome videos and I like your personality. ❤❤

My mom had wrote all her favorite recipes for each of her kids. Then she bought beautiful wood recipe boxes and had them custom engraved. She wrote us each a letter for us to have to. That box means so much to me and I love having this from her. 💜

Beautiful kitchen! I agree the light can lor for cabinets adds a light airy feel to the space! The floor is also very lovely. Those bamboo drawer dividers are really cool. I love bamboo! Bamboo is a wood there will always be alot of and it is so useful!

What a great kitchen tour, I loved those bamboo drawer inserts and have already put them in my Amazon cart! We custom built our home in Arizona last year and it was the first time in my 61 years that I was able to design my own kitchen and I love it too! Before that I had an older house with a really small kitchen from the 60s, so I really appreciate all the new beautiful cabinets, quartz counter tops, and appliances. I have a hidden trash bin like yours and my goodness it is the best. Thank you for sharing and linking those newer items you showed us. I am also thinking about those glass canisters now too, maybe I will put those on my Mother’s Day list 😉. By the way, nothing to do with the kitchen, but I thought your sweater was so pretty, it’s a really nice color on you.

One more comment and I'll stop spamming you! Lol! I used to faux finish wood items in houses like the cabinets, fireplace surrounds, etc. I would glaze the cabinets and door fronts (like your beige) then run the detail lines in all the grooves. Very time consuming but I loved having a blank canvas and watch it turn into a piece of art, in a matter of speaking. Every piece is different because a machine didn't make it. And each house I worked in was different so I loved all the possibilities and the finished product!

Fantastic idea to give a kitchen tour, most people are very curious to see what’s behind closed doors and this video does not disappoint especially with the added bonus of your adorable babies coming and going to check things out. I have to admit I’m envious of all the space you have, I have a very small kitchen, not much storage, counter or floor space but I am by myself so I still get by. We renovated our kitchen about a year after we bought our house and I absolutely love it. We couldn't stand back to back in the old kitchen. Like you we went for an open layout. I love your kitchen especially the under counter lights. That is one thing we didn't do that I wish we had.

When my mum passed away the recipe books were what I asked for. Some have been passed down for many generations. Lots of old handwritten recipes from ancestors that neither my mum or grandmother ever met. These are priceless. They are my families history. Your daughters are right to want those. Food is a great memory nudge and when going thru the book they will remember so many times in their life

We found leak damage so are currently in the process of changing our kitchen. Since I've never cared for the kitchen, this works for me! The best thing about this is that I'll be getting rid of a counter that's become a catch-all & turning that area into a large pantry!!

The fly swatter...oh yes...always on top of the fridge. Funny isn't it. The one thing I'd change is to add more cabinet and counter top space. I have an L-shaped kitchen design but grew up with a larger kitchen design very similar to yours. I sure do miss having all the extra space for storage so the countertops can stay clean and clear. I'm all about the organization. Love your theme and colors too...natural and warm...very inviting. Plus (like you) I love to put stuff (noodles, spices, etc...) in pretty containers. Lol...after shopping it's unreal how many boxes and wrappers fill my trash can. My kitchen hallway takes the brunt of the burden (it just leads to the garage, back patio, and basement). It has a few chef's wire shelving units filled with canned goods, dog stuff and other various things. Thanks for the tour...I love seeing how other people decorate and organize!

And I’m using America’s Test Kitchen as a go-by because that’s the gold standard for cooking shows on TV, and because it’s the only cooking show I watch regularly. @@WelcomeToMyCurls No one expects you to be Food Network, you make down to earth type food, that doesn't take a gazillion ingredients, your videos always have good sound quality and lighting, and you have a beautiful shiny organized kitchen. With all that being said, I believe the best judge would be the number of views and comments you receive when you do a cooking video. You can really crank out some cookies, chocolate covered strawberries, little cheesecakes, etc., so right now your desserts have been off the chain, so I can't give your FRIEND a numerical number.

No wonder your daughters both want them - they are YOU and so special. Very very sweet. Finally, we could all take lessons from you in organization. Yikers, I need to minimize my kitchen! I have so many things stuffed into random corners of drawers and cupboards you could find a lost shoe in there! Lol! I have to force my cupboard doors to close! I have just found your KZbin channel and I love it. You are just so real and tell people things that help that you would otherwise not know about. I watched your kitchen tour and when you talked about your personal cookbook at the end and talked about grabbing them. Well, I have a tip or suggestion for you. Make you a Shutterfly book for you and your girls. I know they are not married but I believe would still love to have one. I made our children one for this Christmas with pictures for memories along with recipes. Mine are all married so I got recipes from their wives grandparents and parents to add to their books. But my main point about Shutterfly is once you put your recipes in there site they are always there for you to go back and retrieve in case something was to happen to your books. You can scan your recipes just like they are so you will always have your handwritten ones. Just a suggestion and keep on with your show. Love the pups. Absolutely loved your kitchen tour! Goals. Hey I don’t know if the glass container next to the Tide pods is holding baking soda, but it should. 1/2 cup of baking soda to each wash load will boost the detergent and get between those little fibers, like in towels or sweatshirts. It helps the detergent to work better, and the extra advantage is it acts like a fabric softener in the dryer. No more dryer sheets that make big round oil spots on your shirts!

I have one of those sinks with no divider I ABSOLUTELY HATE IT. Seeing Maxxie and Pollux during the tour is lovely. Fly swatter on fridge is handy and out of sight. I don't have much trouble with flies and my cat hunts them down and disposes of all. That was so much fun, touring your kitchen and finding some ideas for my own kitchen.

@@WelcomeToMyCurls if you do not have a dishwasher, your single sink is not big enough to do washing and rinsing. A single sink gives me limited options. With a double sink I can use one side for prep and the other side for dishes that I accumulate while cooking. However I do love my kitchen and that is the only thing I would change.

I’m so late again! I have those bamboo flatware organizers! Love them. I saw Chick FIL A sauces in the spice cabinet. I’ll have a number 4, 3-count, with sweet tea and CFA sauce. You have so much storage! Way more than I realized. Totally agree with you about ambient lighting. I almost never turn on my overhead kitchen lights. That was awesome, Renee! My mother used to have a small, framed quote in her kitchen by Abraham Lincoln that I always loved and memorized. It said: "I like to see a man proud of the place in which he lives. I like to see a man live so that his place will be proud of him." She passed almost a year ago (Jan. 21) and when I emptied her house last May for the sale, I never did find that little framed print. I don't know what happened to it, but it will forever be a memory.

One big sink is called a farm sink. I live in an RV & I have a farm sink. I love it & have a plastic basin that fits inside & covers about 40% & it hangs in the sink by its lip. So I keep it in a cabinet nearby.

Love your kitchen with the lite cabinets. For me, I would have included a window over the sink. I am so much happier doing dishes or filling or emptying the dishwasher when I have an outside view to see. My fly swatter is under the sink.

I don't keep a fly swatter.. I use a small butterfly net and let them go outside. I find that they are always going to the windows looking for a way back outside so sometimes I just hold the door open (or window if they are at the window) for a couple minutes and they fly right out on their own. They are not flying around the house looking for things to get into. they just came in on accident and want to get back out. Yeah, I'm that lady who doesn't kill insects.. (except fleas and mosquitos.. those are gonners. hahaha.) Oh Renee, I absolutely just love your kitchen. I'm with you on the cabinet lights There is nothing better than clean counters and quiet lighting.. Randy stop turning the lights on..haha

Hi have a recipe collection also that I have had for 50 years. I have 2 sons but only 1 daughter who wants my collection one day. A good idea would be to have copies made or your make the copies of all your recipes and put them in books for each of your daughters as a special gift. This is something they would cherish and would pass down to their children one day.

I was grinning and giggling as I watched this. Your organization is so much like mine. Drawers for pots and pans (love that instead of cabinets), double-trash pull out, Lazy Susan corner cabinet, cabinet for baking sheets, double-door refrigerator with freezer on the bottom, bamboo trays, and more. We worked with a kitchen planner when we renovated our kitchen a few years ago and I highly recommend that.

I have the bamboo organizers in my new kitchen, along with one for knives. I'm like you and don't like a lot of stuff on the counter, including my knives. I have that same Mexican pottery mug you've got except mine has a yellow handle😆 I love a good coffee mug.

The first 3 things out of the five thing you would grab in the event of a fire are Randy and the dogs and not necessarily in that order lol xxx. I have told my man in the event of a fire you grab Cleo and I will grab Car-Mel... our two girl cats. Cleo loves her Daddy and Car-Mel loves me so I reckon they will be more co-operative with the person they love the best when terrified. I don't care about anything else... just my babies. Grannies cook book will have to burn... I'll be cat wrangling lol xxx

I clean the stainless things with WEIMAN Stainless Steel cleaner. Comes in a spray bottle. It's good stuff...removes any fingerprints and water spots.

What a beautiful kitchen! I’m going to search for those drawer dividers. I have a suggestion for your recipes. I’ve started putting my recipes into my computer/iPad. Your recipe books are a treasure, but having them in the computer is a good backup.

We keep our fly swatter on the top of the fridge too, as well as a grabber. And I think a lot of people have junk drawers in their kitchen.

I have 4 kids and decided to have my recipes printed in a book for them. My Mom helped, so we included her recipes that the kids have grown up eating, as well as my grandmothers. I also included the recipes that their other Grandmother, who is no longer with us, had given me. I actually just printed a second book for them, with newer recipes that I have collected and made over the years. Maybe that would resolve your dilemma!

Hello Renee. Loved your kitchen tour. I live in an apt so I had no say about cabinets, fridge placement, or where the stove would be. However, I could choose what to put where as far as the cabinets go, so that was helpful. The other thing that is helpful is that I have turned the "coat/storage closet" into a PANTRY! There are a few built in shelves, and I have added some stacking shelves in there too, so all of my non-reftigerated stuff is in there! I wish I had an island - the closest I have to that is a half-wall that separates the kitchen from the living room. It is where I do most of my cutting, mixing, stirring, etc, and it acts as a pass-through to my seat in the living room. As for fly swatters - I have pushpin thumb tacks that I stick into the wall for hanging them where they are needed the most: one by the trash can and one at the other end of the kitchen by the dog food bowl. (I also keep one in the BR, one in the hallway, and one close to my computer. That way I always have one ready to smack a fly or two. BTW - I can't decide which are the most annoying types of houseflies - the ones that zoom around at 100mph, or the fat lazy ones that just kind of land on the computer screen, etc. But let's face it ALL flies are a PITA and I try to slap the ones that the dog misses.) Ta-ta. 🥰
