Kudos to you Renee for staying loyal to your beautifully designed kitchen. When you do it right, don’t throw it away and redesign. I remember when you both put in the modern hanging lights above the dining table. What a beautiful change to the foyer/ dining area using one key element. Very thoughtful and exciting!

We took our jacuzzi tub out several years ago. Fortunately our shower was right next to it, so we took it out and made one long shower with the faucets and sprayers (not necessary) on one wall. it's far enough in that we don't need a door. We have two pony walls with glass on the top near where the door would be. It's open and airy and easy to walk, or roll (if the need arises) in to (level with the main bath floor. Also easy to clean! We also have a built in bench. Very pleased with the design I came up with!

That 17 yo kitchen is incredible! Still so functional and timeless. Your cabinetry in the living room would be good to do in the entire wall of your study on the blue sofa side. Good storage and it will allowed you to decorate. Your plan for the master bath is perfect, having live in both small shower and large rain shower space, it’s next level lux.

You will never miss the jacuzzi tub. I hsd two homes with them and maybe total used three times. When building my current home I opted OUT on the jacuzzi tub and did a larger shower. So many people I know never used their jacuzzi tubs and got rid of them.

Your house is beautiful! I love it all! Just a little helpful idea for you! I have bought ruggable rugs. I don’t know if you have heard about them but they are wonderful if you have pets in the house you can pull them up and throw them in your washing machine! There’s a Velcro underpaid that the rug sits on top of and they come in all sorts of patterns and colors I have two of them and love them! They are pretty and flat so you can’t trip on them either! Just an idea I wanted to throw out there!

Love your house, Renee! It's a very pleasant, cozy and inviting space. And the yard, the garden, the quiet space out there with the rustling trees... Amazing! As for the small carpet you put for Maxxie, it's not only thoughtful, but wise. Unfortunately, especially when they get older, dogs can have problems with hips or articulations or torn muscles, just as us, people do. An intermediate step for jumping on the bed or couch and attention to slippery surfaces can prevent injuries that can affect their quality of life.

Maxxie would just sit in the living room on the rug....he wouldn't come into the kitchen. At first, I thought he was hurt. I would pick him up and put him in the kitchen. Then one day it dawned on me....it's the jump and the hard floors. I bought the bathroom rug...and immediately problem solved! 🐾

I love your club chair in the master sweet...I used to have the exact same chair in my living room! And I share your love of the darker wood mixed with that "cream-like" color and all the greenery. It all adds up to safe, warm haven.

Hi Susan! When I redesigned my kitchen, I knew I wanted deep drawers and tall cabinets. Because I love to cook, I needed the proper space for all my things. It's wonderful to have so much space!

Your home is beautiful!!! May I suggest a project for your cats. You could do a catio for them. Run a tunnel out an upstairs window into a backyard catio (s) to give them safe outdoor space, and some freedom. Please consider it. You take such great care of your pups, and your cats would appreciate outdoor time as well. TRUST ME. My cats LOVE their catios. KZbin is loaded with ideas. ❤️

You have a beautiful home and your renovations have just put it over the top. I love your yard, too. It's huge and has so many trees and is very private. You really live in a lovely neighborhood. Right now, we live in the "boonies". Generally I love it, but sometimes I'm a little jealous of you being able to step outside your door and take a walk through a beautiful neighborhood! We drive to the local high school to walk our dogs. It works out well, although we have to time it so that either we get walked before all the people start arriving for school or when school lets out (normally, there isn't much traffic, but when school is getting read to start or is getting out, there's a ton of traffic and not a good time to walk) or wait until school is in session. We usually walk early in the morning in the summer (even earlier once school starts) and then wait until school is already in session to walk in the winter (when it's 35 or 40 degrees instead of 18! On the rare days in east Tennessee (even living in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains this is rare) when it doesn't get above 25 degrees, we skip the walk and sit inside and stay warm!).

I especially love your kitchen - style and color choices. I agree your kitchen is timeless. I used quartz inside of granite because it is easy to take care of it and it has never stained plus choices of color. It is man made but has real natural quartz grinned. I love the Cambria brand. But I do love the choice you made in granite

It's always fun to see your home; you have such great taste. Can't wait to see what you do with your office. I'm with you on taking out the tub in the master bath; I'll take a luxurious shower over a tub any day! It's also a good plan for aging in place. I wish you'd get a pet gate with an actual gate for the top of the stairs; I worry that someone's going to trip and tumble down the stairs trying to step over the gate.

I *love* your ideas to renovate the master bathroom. If all the jacuzzi is doing is taking up space, GET RID OF IT! Just a couple of suggestions from someone who has demoed the same bathroom TWICE. If you’re going to put in a walk-in shower where the tub is, you might consider just putting in fixed glass for about 2/3 of the shower, starting with the shower head end, and just leaving the rest of that part of the shower enclosure open. This would eliminate keeping clean those pesky tracks for sliding glass doors on the shower. You might also consider adding a bench (teak stand-alone or built-in) to the shower at the opposite end from the shower head. A bench makes it so much easier to wash your feet. And, *please* don’t use slippery tiles for the shower floor. You will be very sorry the first time one of you slips and possibly causes major damage to yourself. You would need to ask Randy if he would please change master bath “sides” to do this, but you *could* put a lower height counter that you can sit at to put on your makeup where your current shower is. Just suggestions.

We replaced our jacuzzi tub with a huge walk-in shower. The shower was replaced with a closet. We did this for my mom, who lives with us. We gave her the master suite and we are upstairs.
