No one I knew listened to this stuff, I found it through Tony hawk games and absolutely loved it. My little brother plays GTA V and when I first heard this song on there, I was stoked. People are just mad that the music they love and grew up loving is being introduced to people who don't really know anything about punk. As much as being an angry person is not good, this song rings so true to my life. I had so many fake friends and women who did whatever they could to make it seem like they were my friend, just to be a backstabbing cheating selfish and evil person. A good person and friend like me never deserved the heartache of being lied to, deceived, and cheated on by anybody. It is 'my war'... Forgiving them is best but the heartache will remain. I just hope in the end these fake people end up realizing what they did to hurt me and repent of it in the end... Life can be real brutal man

I can totally remember being in the club surrounded by mohawks, spikes, tattoos and freaks, and the buildup to when this song explodes was so electrifying. I was fortunate to have a completely gorgeous high school girlfriend at the time. She never met a mosh pit that she was afraid to get into. I'm going to listen to the Bad Brains The Big Takeover now. I used to think it was amazing that bands like Pantera came after years of shit like Motley Crue and Poison, then somebody told me to check out Black Flag. It's weird to think that this came out when Van Halen was still the classic Van Halen. Black Flag came out during a time of fluorescent colors, big hair, denim jackets, and synth-laden pop, with the sound and image they had. These guys looked like they didn't give a shit, long before that look became popular. None of the stereotypical punk qualities to be found. Very American as well. Many punk bands at the time were trying to sound like the punk bands in England. A lot of what Henry Rollins was doing vocally, has pretty much become standard for most of the more aggressive forms of music. I'm not saying he invented it, but he was doing it a long time before it became normal. It's still weird to see a band like Black Flag as coming before a lot of the big glam bands. Hell, the Rollins years ended before Guns N Roses debuted.

Bunch of so-called "punks" sounds more like a bunch of fucking elitist hipsters. Sipping on your cup of tea before it's cool. Doesn't matter where you heard it, as long as you like the band. I'm pretty sure 99% of you didn't spend countless hours looking thru a bunch of records and finally came upon this or personally saw Black Flag practicing in their garage. I'm also pretty sure BF wouldn't be alive if they only played for 5 TRUE people. We all start somewhere and at least the newer generation is keeping it alive.

Here, at least I have a semi-original way to be introduced to Black Flag: Back in 2013, Mike V came out with a Black Flag - My War deck for his Elephant Brand. Loved skating old school shapes since I was a kid, and I thought it looked punk. I think I got it on sale, because honestly the graphic wasn't my first choice. Stupid kid that I was, when an old head came up asking me about it and if I liked Black Flag all I could do is reply honestly that no - I've never listened to the very song the skateboard I ride references (nor the band at all). I listened soon after and proceeded to ride that board into sawdust for over 7 years - jamming to punk the entire time. Thanks, Black Flag.

LYRICS: My war, you're one of them You say that you're my friend But you're one of them You don't wanna see me live You don't want me to give Cause you're one of them [Hook] My war, you're one of them You say that you're my friend But you're one of them Them, them, them, them, them Yeah! [Screams] [Verse] War, you're one of them You say that you're my friend But you're one of them I might not know what a friend is All I know is what you're not Cause you're one of them Them [Hook] My war, you're one of them You say that you're my friend But you're one of them Them, them, them, them, them [Verse] Yeah! You're one of them This time, this time This lie My life, my death I have a prediction; it lives in my brain It's with me everyday; it drives me insane I feel it in my heart, that if I had a gun I feel it in my heart, I'd wanna kill some I feel it in my heart, the end will come Come on [Hook] My war, you're one of them You say that you're my friend But you're one of them Them, them, them, them, them [Verse] Tell me that I'm wrong Try to sing me your ego song You're one of them [Hook] My war, you're one of them You say that you're my friend But you're one of them Them, them, them, them, them [Screams] [Verse] You're one of them You're one of them I can't believe you You're one of them And you're one of them And you're one of them And you're one of them One of them, them, them Them, them, them, them, them My war!
