I have to disagree with Jim on one thing. Well 2 actually. The first is, the Freebirds were always putting teams over. All anyone has to do is look at how many times they put the Von Erichs over back in the day. Come to think of it, they even put teams over during their UWF days too. So for Jim to sit there and say they don't is rather laughable. Maybe they didn't wanna put the Midnight's over, but who's to say? After as many years in the business as the Freebirds were in, maybe by this time, they felt, "Hey, let someone else put someone over for a change." Like I said, who's to say? Not taking sides, cos we only have just one side & that's Cornette's. It sure would be interesting to here the OTHER side, just to see who's telling the truth. And in no way am I comparing the two teams, cos they were both great in their day, I'm just saying that, the Freebirds seemed to put teams over many a times in their career's, cos as a heel, that was their job. That & to raise the heat, which they did well. Hayes was a good mic man & an average wrestler. Not a bad wrestler, but I'd say he was at least average. Roberts was a great wrestler with allot of experience while Gordy was simply bad ass all the way, with the best future of the 3. Garvin on the other hand, IMO just wasn't dirty enough at times to be a bona fide heel, IMO. His style was better suited in World Class. But as a Freebird? I don't know about that one. But I think Cornette said IMO that Hayes was a terrible worker, because he didn't wanna put the Express or the tennis racket over. But in either case, it still would be interesting to here both sides of this one. And the 2nd thing I disagree with is, If it was just Cornette & Hayes in the same room, I highly doubt he smarted off to Hayes like he said he did. lol Not saying they were or weren't the only ones in the room when that happened, cos I wasn't there. But I bet if they were, & Cornette smarted off like that, Hayes probably would of popped him one. lol But then again, who's to say? Till we get both sides on this, I guess we'll never really know.

+MemphoWrasslin1 With all do respect, you don't know what Hayes said, cos much like myself, we weren't there. But that said, Hayes wasn't really that old at the time. And he himself even said he would of wrestled longer had it not been due to a neck injury he received while in WCW. And like I said in my initial post, we only have one version to this & that's Jim's. I'm not taking sides, but it would be nice to get BOTH versions in all fairness. Plus, the Freebirds also competed in the AWA & the UWF so they DID in fact face allot of different teams over the years & not just the Von Erichs all the time. As a matter of fact, they weren't really in World Class all that long when you stop to think about it. They were there for about 3 or 4 years during that run they had with the Von Erichs. It might of been longer had the Von Erichs not died off like they did. And as for Hayes & Garvin, they were the ONLY Freebirds to ever win the World Tag Team titles. Not even the original formation can stake that claim. So since they won em, maybe I could see or at least understand Hayes's side in not wanting to job to anyone or at least to some of the teams. Not saying he was right or wrong, but its like I said, till we get both sides, guess we'll never fully know.

+MemphoWrasslin1 I know how the business works & you said in your first post you said Hayes "basically said," giving the impression you was there when you wasn't. But that said, it DOES matter when it comes to titles. When was the last time you saw a card where the World Champion was a mid card match? That's not how you book a card. A good booker or one who knows what he or she is doing, don't book title holders on the under-card. That's what mid-carders are for. The more prestigious the title means to the company, the DEEPER on the card their match should be. Its called smart booking. Simple but fact. But every promoter is different, so to each their own. lol
@defiantone8556
@defiantone8556 9 жыл бұрын
+MemphoWrasslin1 I never said a world tag match did headline a PPV Where do you see that? All I said was, depending on how PRESTIGIOUS the titles are, if your a good or smart booker who knows what your doing, they should be booked deeper on the card & not booked at the mid-card level. The World Title & the World Tag Team Titles are the two most sought after titles in any federation & should be booked as such. And if their not, the booker don't have a damn clue about the business then.
@defiantone8556

+MemphoWrasslin1 In this video we don't know who was the champions, so who's to say the Express were, either? Not saying you said they were, but it goes back to what I initially said. We only have 1 side to this, so far. That's why I said it would be nice to get both sides. And even if the birds weren't the champions at the time in question, just because you lose a title, don't mean that you should get mid-card status. Ever here of a rematch? Like I said, if you have any brains (I'm talking about the booker here) a smart booker would book the world title as the main event aka the last match on the card & the world tag titles right before it, cos in tag team wrestling those titles are what the world title is. Only difference is, its not a singles title. As for doing what a booker says or not, Steve Austin didn't wanna job to Brock Lesnar. So all this video proves is, Hayes wasn't the only one who didn't wanna job. And come to think of it, Austin nor Brock held a title either. Like I said, not all bookers are the same.

+MemphoWrasslin1 According to what Cornette said, all Hayes said was, he wasn't gonna "sell" the tennis racket. That's not a job. A job is losing a match. And who's to say that Cornette's even telling us the truth? It all goes back to what I said earlier, & that is, it sure would be nice to get BOTH sides of this. Not saying Hayes's would be the truth but by weighing both sides we could get a more clear picture on exactly who IS telling the truth. As for walking out or getting fired by a booker, speaking just for myself, I wouldn't know, seeings I wasn't there. As for Jim Herd, no one seemed to like him cos he according to the talent roster, knew nothing about the business.

As much as I love Jim Cornette the man always has a opinion, and backhanded insult to EVERYONE in the business. Love his stories, but after awhile there has to be a reason he has so many enemies in the business. There is only one common denominator with all the people he doesn't get along with.... Him.
