I commented a few weeks ago on one of your videos when I started watching them, asking you how do you plan to use Timeline View because I knew that it would be a great addition to the PPV model. And today I finally saw this

Excellent video once again, August! Whenever Notion releases to features, I'm always keen to see how you will apply that. My main challenge at the moment with Notion implementation is in actually incorporating the app into my daily routine; I find that I don't habitually open it daily at the moment, which means that certain features aren't being fully utilised. But I'm working on it!

If you have an iPhone, try adding the Notion widget set to show your favorite pages (android version coming soon I think). I just rely so much on the Today toggle in the action Zone I could; t function without mobile access to it. Same with the widget saving articles to the media vault Just have to incorporate it into your personal process.

Ooh congrats on the “house search” project! Aaaand would you consider doing a quick video about how you’re going about structuring such a big project inside PPV/Notion? That would be so helpful to see how you are approaching all the details.

Bradley, now that the projects aren't related to the pillar, what do you filter the projects template by for the pillars. Previously we filtered the pillars to the project itself, but now that we don't have a relation between pillars and projects how can each projects only show the pillar that are relevant to the appropriate project? or did you delete the pillar section completely from the project-page? Thanks in advance!

What if a project has multiple phases, that one cant start without the next. Is there a way to get them to show on the same row? Something more like a traditional gantt chart that is typically used in Architecture/ construction

Does someone have the formula for the new progress bar that august has in the project database?

1 question and I cannot fix it by my own..: My every Projects page includes tables showing the smaller steps / tasks in it. How may the smaller steps / tasks being shown on the timeline view / global table (such as action zone) across different Projects in order to let me have a much more detailed view on the progress of each projects in a single page instead of open each project page to view the progress / details?

Hi August, I like your videos on Notion. Notion is about managing everything in our day today life whether it is personal or professional. Since your most videos are at advanced level, they helps in deep learning. I wanted to know one thing, I could not figure out..how to navigate to subsequent next pages in a database. Can you suggest me any way out, or is there any keyboard shortcut for this?. Thanks.

Thanks for the great video. August, it looks like Notion limits users to 3 or 5 timeline views (unless you have the enterprise account). Have you found this too limiting or are you just using it for only select databases?
@augustbradley4 жыл бұрын
My understanding is they have not enforced that yet, but even if so pick where it is most valuable. Seems Projects is a clergies winner - in Alignment and Action Zones.

I just saw this and I have to add a killer feature of timelines that I had to experiment with. You can have timeline start and end dates to be calculated from formulas! This means that if you have something like a rollup of all of your expected tasks with estimated days to complete, then you can get an estimated time to completion shown on the timeline. ----> How to make this: Have one DB column be the start date. It should not be a start-end date style. Then have a column representing the number of hours/days/weeks. This can be manually entered or calculated. Then have your end date be a column with the formula using the "dateAdd()" function. Then set your "TimelineBy" to separate start and end points with the respective columns. BOOM -----> NOTE: If you have a formula as one of your dates (start or end), then you cannot move it from the timeline view. It will appear locked. Thus I have gotten around this by having a "Calculated End Date" and manually set "Est End Date". Then I have separate views for the calculated and estimated types. I can move them around in the Est views and the Calc views update.
@energyeternal4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Are you open to copy/pasting your formulas here?
@kryptopro14 жыл бұрын
@@energyeternal dateAdd(prop("Start Date"), prop("Length"), "days") where Start Date is manually entered, Length can either be manually entered or calculated, and "days" is the interval. Also supports "hours, min, weeks, quarters, years" and a few others.

great video as always! wondering, what kind of PC build are you looking at? And also wondering why aren't you going of MacOS like every other productivity guru? :p
@augustbradley3 жыл бұрын
I'm making a custom monster gaming-style PC for the purpose of video editing (Adobe Premiere) in high res, VFX/motion graphics, and H.265 editing and livestream software (vMix) for live editing recording. I use Macs to for lightweight internet cloud stuff. But Apple doesn't not make powerful computers (the ones with good CPUs get massively throttled because the cases have poor heat control), cant get NVIDIA cards in them, and the one powerful model they make (the new Mac Pro) is $20k to $30k for what you can get for $4k - $5k in a PC (no joke). Windows 10 is now just as good as Mac OS. So I use Macs for lightweight stuff and for iPhone/tablet, and I use beefy PCs for the heavy lifting video/graphics work. This KZbin channel has not shown much in the way of heavy video production, but that will change 😎.

Thanks for the video! Could you put a word in with the Notion team to allow for the table to show? When the database is not underneath a toggle, you can display the table to the left of the timeline and choose properties to "show in table" or "show in timeline". This feature is disabled whenever the database is under a toggle or in a column. (They cite "space" as a reason for this, but I hold most users have wide enough monitors or small enough font size settings that they should be allowed to have the option to show the table if they choose to do so.) 🙏 Thank you!

I agree, good point. I will share this with the team.
