Times When Barbie Warmed Our Hearts

These are our favorite Barbie stories. In 2016, a little girl made dreams come true for hundreds of kids in need by collecting 1000 Barbies for children less fortunate. In 2020, 2-year-old Ella Rogers was excited after being gifted a Barbie doll in a wheelchair resembling her. In 2021, a COVID-19 nurse was honored with a Barbie doll modeled down to the detail after her. Inside Edition Digital’s Andrea Swindall has more.

Barbie has and always will be one of my favorite things on earth. She is an inspiration to girls and boys everywhere. People tend to say, well she causes girls to have body dysmorphia, but thats poor teaching by the parent. She is a piece of plastic, but she can be whoever she wants to be. I love this story, warms my heart!!!!

As a person in a wheelchair who also has spina bifida, the second Barbie doll story made me cry. That is so wonderful. I really wish that I was her age so that I could see it for myself. Oh I am so happy for her.

I bought that Barbie for my niece when she was a baby (to have a doll that looks like her Aunty). I was going to save it for her for when she was older, but now I’m going to have to buy another one because this one I’m keeping. And I’m 30 😅

I would love to have a barbie on the autism spectrum like me. I came such a long way more than people know. They thought that I was not going to talk nor thrive academically nor go to college nor live on my own. I did it all I talk,I thrived academically, I proved I can have academic success, I graduated from college and I live on my own without help.

That’s the way little girls talk to each other. I overheard some pre kindergarteners inviting each other to their birthday parties and one of the girls said “-- can’t come to my party and I’m going to give everyone a cupcake. - - can’t have any though” Other Pre Kindergarteners “Why” “Because she’s mean to me. DUH!” 😂😂😂 Who knew that Pre Kindergarteners had their own slang and lingo.

Exactly, Faith is right, there's no "autism look" and putting the autist label just for profit would be disrespectful. Barbie can be whoever you want her to be, if the child who's playing with one wants theirs to be autistic then nothing's stopping them🤷‍♀️ I had a tomboy Barbie and goth Barbie (well, goth Summer actually) even though they weren't originally marketed as that. My Barbies were also the Winx fairies part-time as well😂
