Inshort What Swamiji is trying to say is Demand is low and the supply is high. Supply according to economics should always be 80% of the total demand. So, by giving money to corporates to manufacture more and more will only bring more problems.

Conversely, if corporates use these funds to clear old inventory by using schemes, it may lead to lower storage costs etc n in the future and push margins but this is also very subjective.

Giving corporates more money can also make them invest more. Also our corporate taxes were the highest in Asia compared to similar countries like Thailand, Philippines etc where they attract more investment due to lower corporate taxes..... bringing tax on par should attract more investment.

Dr Swamy raised few points which are absolutely correct like 1> Asking the people to deposit the money in your bank and take 15% as tax, 60% as FD and 25% withdrawal. This is a pragmatic approach for which a sound mind is required not a leech one. Government thought of making most of it and got it's hands burnt. It seems that our governments/bureaucrats haven't learnt anything from the past (i.e. licence permit raaj) when it comes to give ease of living to the general public. 2> A lot of counterfeit currency came into the system. I know folks who deposited such currencies, that time I wondered what would be the magnitude of such deposits across the country. That's why RBI hasn't come with the amount of cash they received :) 3> Calibrating the ATMs and new currency notes for cushioning. The more I think over it, more I'm convinced that we don't need people with iron hand in the finance ministry. We need people who understand psyche of public, macro economy and come up with pragmatic strategies.

Swamy has been trying his level best since the last few years, to differentiate the political working of the government, which is excellent, and the economic policies, which have become a hit & miss affair. Modi urgently needs to get people like Swamy on board, as he is trying with best intentions at heart to criticize only as much as is needed, to change the economy's course. If not there are examples in history, like the Germans of Weimar Republic before WW1, whoes currency was so devalued that it was finally only useful as fuel for heaters. The start of the world wars 1&2 can be traced to the severe depression of the German economy. Its much easier to take drastic measures right now, than face a severe economic collapse, which may lead to a civil war, or a war with Pakistan.
