** ABOUT TIME TEAM **
Time Team is a British archaeology series that originally broadcast on the UK's Channel 4 for 20 series, and countless specials. Over the years, the team excavated over 220 sites, from back gardens to Buckingham Palace. The show has now returned to KZbin, thanks to the incredible support of thousands of worldwide fans on Patreon.
Series 21 (Season 21) of Time Team follows two incredible new digs, each released in extended 3-part episodes exclusively on the Time Team Official KZbin channel. The first dig explores a mysterious Iron Age site in Cornwall; the second investigates a huge Roman villa on the estate of a Tudor castle in Oxfordshire.

I find his presentation a distraction. Breathy, whispering and no depth of voice. Sounds he is reading a book or script to small children and comes off to be underwhelming and overly bland. "Mister Rogers speak" for the American viewers reference. It isn't Adult level. There is no personality like the archeologist exhibit. Much better in direct conversation mind you, but " chalkboard screechy" when doing overview narration. Monotone and condescending.

It is interesting to see how the technology has advanced from Season One of TT until now. I also like how the 3-day dig is being presented in three shows, giving the viewers much more detail about the excavations and what is being found.

I really loved that ending, where Natalie used Gus and Jimmy to give a sense of the villa's scale. Looking at maps, aerial photos, none of those really give the viewer a true sense of size like what Natalie did there. Having people at the ends really helps viewers see just how big the villa is. The slower pace, more of the process, deeper explanations, the new format is exceeding all expectations. Loving it, just loving it.

The approach and mood of the show feels more like a documentary than the dramatic and frantic pace that the old Time Team show felt. I do like that each episode represents a day of the dig without a strict time constraint on each episode and the behind-the-scenes crew are included in the episodes, and off course, the new tech and gadgets… no more helicopter visuals?!?! 😝 But I do miss the humor, the banter, and chaos😞

I've missed seeing Stewart wandering about on his bicycle, listening to what the land has to say. Also great to see that the team has embraced the metal detectorists as an asset vs the equivalent of "tomb robbers" or vandals.
@SirWussiePants
@SirWussiePants 2 жыл бұрын
To be fair there are both - responsible detectorists and stealth pirates (as well as responsible archaeologists and stealth pirates) . But even Mick came around to seeing the value in metal detecting as long as it is done responsibly. Both archaeologists and detectorists have changed over the decades to come to an understanding. The laws also changed over time to not cut the detectorists totally out when they find a hoard making responsible metal detecting and documentation a worthy goal. I think that there was a time - just when detecting got big - where it was the wild west out there and every man for himself. That brought on some of the bad feelings. Remember, there was a time when archaeology was similar. Both professions have grown dramatically and for the better.

As an Australian with part English heritage, aged in mid 70’s , my school history was based on England , (not usually including Wales, Scotland , Ireland etc. ) with occasional references to some of the other members of the Great Britain, it has fascinated me all my life. I got hooked on Meet your Ancestors , and Time Team with a great desire to join a dig and take part. I loved all the presenters and was excited to see Raksha and Matt on other programmes after TT was no longer being shown. Now to see many of the old faces back I am once more in my happy place. Thank you all who were responsible for getting the new TT back and financing the effort. I am not in a position to help financially and certainly unfit physically but I feel like it I am welcomed back to discovering more about the small island in the north! I'm at the start of renovating a 400+ year old house. I can't be more specific of the age, as there are just no records. One feature suggests the house is much older. Already, and thanks to the knowledge I've gained from watching Time Team since it's very first episode on C4. I been able to see the history of the house from things like the filled in doorways that now lead outside what I own. I really wish I could get that photogrammetry and laser measurement done, to begin to see what has been lost. But here in Malta, right now that is beyond specialist and expensive. But I just wanted to say, thank you to the Time Team, for making me aware of what to look for. I'm so glad you are back!

I had a house built in 1921. Before I bought it it had been remodeled and I remodeled again. So in only just 101 years, a small semi built as one of a small estate of rented properties has had 2 remodelings and now maybe more as I sold it last year. So no wonder a house the size and age of this one is so intriguing.

Can I just say that you can do your own Photogrammetry with free software. Various KZbin videos will show you how. It won't be as quick or high quality as the professionals with professional kit but you can do it. (It may cost you a new PC though, one of the reasons I brought my swanky new one was to be able to do Photogrammetry at speed). e.g. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fouzcqSCZa99n9k Even just manual measurements used to build a 3D model using Blender (Open Source Software) might help you get a more complete picture of the building.

People. This is really coming along well. Certainly much to be proud of. Everything is nicely executed. This pleasant 2.0 goes to show, that the unique format of crowdfunding was the right decision. Nothing could've been more frightening, than todays editing, half second clipping and way over the top dramatized epic soundtrack that so much else is so profoundly and truly plagued of, making such broadcasts completely and utterly intolerable, unbearable and unwatchable. This, my friends.....this is hopefully a new decade long pathway. So much to be explored still. Standing ovation.

This is brilliant! It pains me to say say it it is better than the original early series of Time Team and certainly better than those last few series. Well done I am loving every second of your content! The use of the tech is so good and it has all come together to make Time Team come back to life... lovin' it!

Me too, and it has taught me so much about our history that I didn't learn at school because we had to choose between history and geography and I chose geography at the time. Time Team has helped me fill in my knowledge gaps so well and I'm so grateful to the whole team for this.

It's so frustrating for me to hear "You can clearly see...", when I rarely can see anything from this distance. I watch in faith that the experts know what they are doing, and BELIEVE in what they've uncovered. It only slightly diminishes my enjoyment of being with this team again. The sign-off was a no brainer..."the only thing I can say is to expect the unexpected". That's what we've come to recognize as a standard for Time Team since the very beginning.---I'll be here, waiting for Day 3!

I love TimeTeam, and always will. My only problem with this new series is that the voice of the presenter is so gentle and unexciting that I have a difficult time not being lulled into sleep. I have had to restart this episode twice already. I like his voice, but I really miss the excitement of Tony, Phill and the others. It IS new and exciting, but it is not presented that way. It is as if it is a calming bed time story.
