Bivol boxes like a tall guy despite being a small light heavy. He’d be untouchable if he had long arms

Very accurate work, and an absolutely correct and clever analysis. Simple. I'd add that knowing how to box full range plays an important part too. Most of people don't know how to box with their natural true long range, even amongst professional fighters.

At long range Bivol will need to long guard fence more when he rematches Artur. Fencing is better for maintaining distance than his high guard

Fighting in long range constantly and don't run away and start his combo with back hand and long punches and long hook

Hm, what speed? This is just a video that showcases the importance of timing, the other guy isn't known for fast hands. Canelo vs Khan would be a good example of what one well timed shot can do vs. someone with very fast hands.

This reset habit was so ingrained that Smith couldn’t stop doing it. It was exploited over and over

Odd that someone could make such a good analysis video while simultaneously misinterpreting one of boxings most hallowed truisms so severely. "Timing beats speed" refers to the fact that no matter how much of a general speed advantage a fighter may have, it can be trumped by the other fighter generally having superior timing. What Bivol is doing here is deploying tactics against, as it happens, a somewhat slower fighter, similar to how he attacked Beterbiev whenever he did his characteristic L-step aggressive reset, or Canelo whenever he tried to cheat his back foot forward. He is attacking at the right "time" sure, but the window is pretty big and its a question of identifying the occasion and being ready to take advantage - its a ring IQ issue rather than one of timing.

@@shakes.dontknowwhatyergettin no. Your definition of timing beats speed is good, that’s exactly what’s happening here. To say it’s not because there is a tactical element to it doesn’t make any sense. Whole training camps are spent working in the “tactics” of when to time certain punches. I agree that smith is not a fast hands fighter but the principle of the video is true and it’s something that people can notice and put into their own fighting and coaching. Which was the entire point.
