I've seen a dozen timing belt videos and dozens of car repairs videos. THIS is so good.

How long did it take I have a 2010 3.5 J35z2 V6 it’s 40,000 miles over due thank god it’s a Honda but it’s starting to make that tensioner sound at start up goes away after warming but I’m not going to risk any longer because those engine prices are ridiculous to replace even the prices of the JDM version I’ve seen prices for this engine version $2700 hundred and up whew 🥵
@drewwellnitz6667 Жыл бұрын
It took me roughly three days but I was only working on it after work. It was like 7-10 hours. But I took my time as this was the first large job I've completed in my own. But I m almost 20,000 miles in and have had no issues thankfully. Just have to pay attention and it's all pretty straight forward.

I had been looking for this exact video thank god I came across it today lots of videos on here on how to do other gen accords and pilots and odyssey but a straight forward 3.5 j35z coupe is a rarity even on KZbin you’re a god send for me I searched and this showed up in my preview I was like wow I don’t believe it finally a 8th gen V6 coupe video about timing replacement ❤😂

I have owned my Accord for 16 years, fourth timing belt. Life is good.
@danjoe22 Жыл бұрын
Great job, you made it look easy but it is rather involved. I have a 2010 accord v6 with 72000 miles. No issues what so ever but I'm told the belt should be replaced at 10 years regardless of mileage. What is your advice?
@ClericChris Жыл бұрын
I've made so many bad choices in life, but I've had a handful of wins. Buying a serpentine belt removal tool was one of those wins. I bought the Gear Wrench one but there are other good ones. It turns a task that should be simple but is often the bane of existence and actually makes it simple. You'll feel like a Buddhist monk working on your car; chill, and at peace with nature. No more digging for cheater pipes or trying to use a 5° ratchet in a 4° gap, so your forced to use a 1/4" ratchet for clearance with a stack of adapters from 1/4 to 3/8 to 1/2 then a swivel socket to an 18mm socket with 2/3 of it ground away so it doesn't hit the fender.

Almost 130000 miles on my 2008 Honda v6. Original timing belt, engine still running smooth and quiet

Gambling at this point. If it breaks you're screwed. Mine made it to 150K and I feel pretty lucky. Decided not to push it any further. Mostly highway miles.

It’s only the V6s that are this expensive and difficult time consuming belts? Not the four cylinders? I’d do well to avoid the V6s

Honda recommends 100k mile timing belt replacement.
@AntonAtan8 ай бұрын
Besides 100k miles I think the recommendation is or 7 years. Even if the belt is good hydraulic tensioner might be leaking. I did mine at 100k miles but at 155k and 8 years after the 1st timing belt kit I noticed some oil and re-did it again.

@trackrunner112 жыл бұрын
If you are going to remove the water pump than include draining the coolant. Nothing mentioned about removing the pin for the tensioner or the the wheel well cover and the tire as well. It's worth mentioning that there special gear jamming tools that fit between the cams to prevent movement.

@slipshaft5 ай бұрын
It can be done but expect to spend time laying on the floor with your head in the wheel well. Everything is blocked by something else. This job is a royal PITA. Allow yourself plenty of time. Also, jack up the car as high as possible if you plan on using a long breaker bar to break that crank bolt, otherwise the floor is in the way.
