I love that you add a "necessary tool" list. That is super convenient when prepping for install!!

It’s a win win. Helps the viewers out who don’t want to search for everything and also helps me earn a small bit of coin.

Do u have to put the motor to tdc ? Like the head to tdc and the block ? Or u can just remove the tct ? It wont skip time.???
@mikebeale16855 жыл бұрын
Good video. Rather than removing the air box, I found I could just loosen the two passenger side lower air box bolts and then tilt it forward and up. This gave me enough room to pull the retaining pin for the new tensioner.

Put a new one in my 02 S2KI and all went well except still leaking oil. Made sure to torque to specs as well but still small leak. Any recommendations? Is there another gasket that can be put between the tct and the block??

You state to make the piston is pointed upward. What do you mean by and how to I make sure it's pointed upward? Thanks in advance!
@DIYGuysvideo2 жыл бұрын
The engine is angled already so as long as you don’t twist the angle of the TCT the piston will be tilted upwards.

any tips for removing a bolt that snapped holding the TCT in place? it's the harder to reach/see of the two bolts.

For those wondering, if ya need a new TCT, Billmans TCT is the way to go....go ok s2ki.com and search for Billman250

I'm currently waiting on a new OEM TCT (Ballade item didn't work out well..), have the TCT out and the valve cover off, would it be a bad idea to set my valve gaps without tension on the chain?
@DIYGuysvideo4 жыл бұрын
I don’t think it would matter if there is no tension on the chain. It’s just about the cams really.
@brendawg80024 жыл бұрын
@@DIYGuysvideo Thanks for your reply. Chain could jump a tooth under no tension I guess, but the engine has to be turned to facilitate a TCT that doesn't initially seat correctly, so who the hell knows...!!!

How about rear subframe re-alignment!!!! I think I need one. My driver rear wheel is closer to the rear bumper than the passenger side
@pault65333 жыл бұрын
Instead of prying through the hole, perhaps one or both of the two remaining fasteners could be used for the purpose of pulling on the TCT body. A rigid plate with a hole in the end of it could be fastened with the bolt closer to the front of the car. Then it's a matter of pulling the bar away from the engine block.

Before taking out the tensioner, do I need to set the timing chain or position the piston in order not to mess up the timing?
@DIYGuysvideo6 жыл бұрын
Nope. If you did I would have included it!
@mrleg0man4 жыл бұрын
If this is all there is to it, why does the shop manual show installing a M5 x 40mm long bolt into the maintenance hole prior to removing the tensioner?
@DIYGuysvideo4 жыл бұрын
My guess is that it’s the absolute safest way to do it since it locks the TCT piston into place. In practice it isn’t really necessary.

Where u buy the seal rubber of factory TCT? Just open up TCT for replacing seal rubber?
@DIYGuysvideo6 жыл бұрын
Yes I am only replacing gaskets. I’ll have another video on it. I bought the gaskets at Honda and it cost around $8
@fastcrazy25556 жыл бұрын
I have been keep researching s2k TCT for quite a while. I look everything online and it shows only billman TCT won’t leak in any cases. Even ballade or Toda TCT are leaking through time. Billman said if u sandblast a little stick inside TCT which increases more friction then it will pause leaking for a while. But I am living in New Zealand, a country far away from everything. Hard to get billman. Please tell me how is your TCT going after replacing seal rubber. Don’t go factory it will leak after around 10000kms.
@DIYGuysvideo6 жыл бұрын
I am pretty sure Billman modifies the OEM TCT (since he requires a core) so he probably uses OEM gaskets. I will be using OEM gaskets as well. These original gaskets lasted me 150,000 miles which is a lot. I have used a Billman TCT in the past with great success though.
@fastcrazy25556 жыл бұрын
DIYGuys so right now you’re using OEM TCT which can last around 150000kms after replacing rubber seals inside? BTW how to keep TCT healthy because I heard improper maintenance can lead to oil leaks really quick
@DirtDude1176 жыл бұрын
Swapping to Billman's hasn't lead me wrong. I have had to put new gaskets on once though. Instead of using that Hex Bolt you can also clamp the TCT or you can open the other backing plate on one bolt then rotate it then use a hammer to tap it lose. DO NOT WEDGE BETWEEN THE BLOCK!

Ok how about… 1 remove TCT inspection cover 2 remove oil screw 3 use M5 screw to engage the tct piston 4 now safely remove it without any danger of the whole thing falling off into the engine I got away with the method you describe, but now realise it was luck rather than judgement
@DIYGuysvideo Жыл бұрын
Do you have any evidence of the TCT ever falling into the engine before? Is there an actual risk or is it your imagination?
