Oh maan! I am beginning to get the impression that the Holy Spirit somehow inspired to click on this video right now.....I recently lost my job and was left hopeless....when I heard elder Oaks say what he said at 24:00. My plan for 2023 was extremely different than the changes I had to make to adjust.....and although I must admit I prayed so that certain situation that in many ways required practically a miracle to occur so I was then inspired by the Spirit to ask for comfort and look for other solutions than what I wanted to happen.....the result is I am on the way to recovery and with a brand new plan.....I am happy that I remain steady in my faith throughout my ordeals, no matter what happens to me, I will never question the Lord's timing.....

I so much appreciate the Lord's timing and experiences I've had in my lifetime. I can see the hand of the Lord in my life from the time I was a child. I wouldn't trade any of my experiences and the timing of them. I love God with all my heart!

I concur with Melissa. Sometimes we forget about the role that agency plays in decisions, that it respects the right of others to choose their own adventure. God's work will be done, it will be done well, and it will be done on time. We get to choose to participate or force Him to raise up replacements to do our work.

God bless all of you with eyes to see and ears to hear in the peculiar ways the Lord speaks to you. Dont look beyond the mark of Jesus Christ and stay in the boat until you have the sea of doubt part or you reach the promised land. 🙏 Some men in their hours of darkness may feel-I have heard of men feeling so-that the work is about done, that the enemies of the Saints have become so powerful, and bring such vast wealth and energy to bear against them that we are all going to be crushed out pretty soon. I will say to such brethren, it is very bad policy for you, because you think the old ship Zion is going to sink, to jump overboard. [George A. Smith, Journal of Discourses 17:199-200]

Anson Call is my grandfather ancestor whom Dallin speaks of in this clip. Ansons family did go to the rocky mountains and some of his children lived in Chesterfield ID which is now a historic tourist town. I live only an hour from there and am involved there and this history. Anson is prominent in Church history as he helped Brigham Young settle alot of Utah.

So I truly don't get this. How do we trust God in His time and way? He says we need to be anxiously engaged, but we can only move when He says it's time? We are to choose, but we also need to be submissive to His time. We pray, but He answers in His time. Mortality is already difficult and the fact that the atonement was prepared from the foundation of the world, shows we are failures. How does one truly have joy in suffering? If we don't submit to God we're the sinners; if we aren't patient, we're the sinners; if we're not humble, we're the sinners. We fail so much and often, how then do we trust God, when it seems like mortality is nothing but failure or as it reads, all of this is for experience. Our failures are our experiences? When will the joy come, only by trusting Him? But if I don't, then I'm the sinner. Ugh.

You are not a perfect person , neither am I , you are not a Failure, God has not told you that, nor has Jesus Christ, nor has the Holy Ghost. Heavenly Father has told the world this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased, Jesus Christ was perfect he did everything which was the will of Heavenly Father. Because of this as you do your best to follow Jesus the very best you can , the Lord who is your Savior will lift you up no matter how hard life is and becomes. He knows your efforts and he knows and understands You Personally. Continue to seek him and his ways your very best.He has not left you on your own strength alone.

I have struggled from time to time with the same thoughts. Now that I’m a parent I can see that timing is not always obvious at first… but sometimes more apparent in hindsight. It’s easier to see in your kid’s life that in your own life. However I feel like a great piece of advice I heard from a 70 is super helpful,; “it is easier for HF to steer someone who is up and moving in a positive direction than it is to steer someone who is standing still”. Getting up and making a goal and moving towards it HF can move you to better outcomes, even if course corrections are needed. Making sure we are praying, reading, and attending our meetings while working towards worthy goals will allow HF to move you in the best course for your life. Just like Nephi in the wilderness, HF lead the family ‘through the most fertile parts of the land” to his goal. It was not a straight shot.

We have so many opportunities to feel joy. We aren’t perfect, we aren’t asked to be, we are asked to do our best and the Lord makes up the rest, that is why we have a Savior. We do fall short, but we learn and grow and the joy is experienced as we turn to the Savior and trust in him. Like the other comments say, we should be moving in a positive direction, not standing still hoping things will just happen. Gods timing, as explained by Elder Holland, is not linear, there are lots of good paths we can take and Heavenly Father blesses us when we make good decisions and move forward with them. The way I look at His timing is that, He always has something great planned for us and we work towards our goals and He orchestrates, in a beautiful way the fulfillment of those goals - even if they turn out to be different than what we had planned. If we keep the commandments and our covenants He helps us with our trials and we feel joy in the journey. We are not simply objects to be acted upon that are unhappy and always falling short. The Savior suffered so we would not have to, if we turn to him in faith and a repentant heart. We have a savior who helps us feel joy as we become more like him and our Father in Heaven.

What if you’ve been told to “WAIT”?
@amygarner8794 жыл бұрын
You ask what do I do now?
@mrs.schmenkman4 жыл бұрын
Well...then...you wait. But while you wait you still are required to live a full and committed life and become the most faithful servant of the Lord you can be. Humility forces us to admit we don't know what we don't know.
